The Small Business Lending team is an innovative and dynamic business unit that has led Wells Fargo to become the USA’s leading small business lender.

Small Business Lending Operations consists of over 700 team members located in Phoenix, Charlotte and Manila supporting all the various Small Business Lending loan products and all segments of the credit life cycle including sales, underwriting, fulfillment, customer service, collections, recoveries, operations risk, analytics and more.

The Analytics and Information Services (AIS) group within Small Business Lending (SBL) operations is looking for a passionate, well organized, and results oriented data analyst with a proven track record of collaborating with organizations to learn their operations and deliver data driven insights that lead to tangible improvements.

About the Role

We are looking for a strong analytical professional who can help our AIS team move our analytics and business intelligence to the next level.

Analytic Consultant is a business partner facing role and will be on the leading edge of analytics / BI technology and has a perpetual interest in learning and applying new things.

The candidate must have a passion for the design and development of creative and innovative analytics and business intelligence solutions.

He / She should enjoy digging through data, turning data into a story, and creating insights through rich interactive data visualizations.

The successful candidate will need to possess strong problem solving skills, conceptual thinking abilities and be a strong communicator.

Market Skills and Certifications


  • Access data using SQL within a structured database
  • Update / modify the databases based on business needs and inputs
  • Quickly turnaround ad hoc business queries for decision making
  • Design, build new reports and enhance the existing reports in Cognos / Tableau
  • Ensure that analyses are delivered on time, with a high level of quality
  • Effectively communicate progress / status as well as solicit feedback on work products
  • Proactively seek opportunities to increase the value of deliverable
  • Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business / social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 4+ (Overall Experience) years of experience in one or a combination of reporting, analytics and data wrangling skills or a Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business / social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following : reporting, analytics, or data wrangling
  • 2+ years of SQL (Key technical Skills) programming experience
  • Experience in building, executing and troubleshooting reports generated in a business intelligence reporting tool, e.g. Cognos, Tableau
  • Desired qualifications

  • Data analysis Able to provide exploratory data analysis using SQLExperience with Relational Databases e.g. Oracle , Teradata, Sql Server Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Experience with structured data and semi-
  • structured text or Excel files

  • Business Intelligence Ability to incorporate multiple data sources and develop comprehensive business insight solutionsAbility to collaboratively design and build business reports
  • Industry / Business experience within Financial Services Operations, e.g. originations, servicing, collections, call center
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
