Description Responsible in supporting the ASCO Marketing and Reporting Teams Automation projects. Provides technical support in developing and maintaining database for business intelligence applications.
This position also involves data analysis, and project management, by combining analytics, and information technology (database) skills. Responsibilities
Attends scope reviews to learn what the project request is all about.
Gathers, analyzes and clarifies customer requirements; uses technical knowledge to gauge complexity of the request.
Performs research and analysis to validate if the detailed solution is the best fit to meet the requirement
Based on project scope and requirements, creates timelines and list of deliverables for each milestone
Prioritized multiple tasks and projects if there are multiple projects going on
Creates process maps, user journey maps or application / database design using standard project templates.
Creates prototypes, mock-ups using standard project templates and tools for projects without wireframes.
Reviews and assesses prototypes in terms of relevance and application to the requirements of the customers.
Encodes documentation using standard project templates; stores and organizes the documents to the team’s repository.
Performs internal quality checks on developed system and tool's output.
Joins and combines various data sources, systems, databases, reports, to come up with a single data output.
Writes basic to advanced queries to be used on non-standard and customized reports.
Decodes data fields / column equivalents from unidentified data source table to another.
Troubleshoots basic connectivity problems both hardware and software. Execute a reliable solution.
Monitors continuity of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process from different sources (e.g. SQL, websites, ERP system) to Data Warehouse
Connects on established access to all identified sources.
Communicates with resource person to get input / raw data needed for report generation.
Writes code based on specifications defined (i.e. UI, back-end coding); Participates in cross-functional testing and peer reviews.
Follows set coding standards, code sharing and design guidelines of the team.
Shares only working codes with teams.
Troubleshoots and optimizes codes of other team members and resolves code conflicts.
Creates coding standards and design guidelines or any development related improvement.
Develops simple and complex modules or basic and advanced functionalities.
Sets up the development environment, configures servers, create database and project solutions, necessary permissions, code repository and populates project tracking tool.
Reports own progress back to the project tracking tool.
Sets up UAT (informing participants, scheduling, gathering results).
Creates user manuals using standard templates of the team.
Creates test cases to be used during UAT.
Implements the necessary fix or improvement for advanced functionalities based on the UAT results
Gathers requirements and approvals needed.
Performs testing of published web content.
Implements basic change request (document uploads, library creation, account creation, banner update, meta-tagging, simple typography, price updates).
Troubleshoots minor bugs or known defects or any other easy requests (UI fixes, raw data requests).
Troubleshoots major bugs / defects and assists associate developers in making sure issues / requests are resolved appropriately and on time (advanced bug / defects : loss of data, server errors, logical errors, unexpected app behavior).
Provides system training to end user
Extracts / generates quantitative information from databases using standard and non-standard queries. (basic and intermediate coding).
Consolidates and standardize data structure from different data sources.
Calculates data using available fields within the gathered information. (basic math).
Cleans extracted data using pre-defined guidelines or instructions.
Formats extracted data using pre-defined guidelines or instructions.
Formats extracted data based on expected report output. (multiple data formatting requirements).
Combines extracted data from multiple resources using automated tools (excel, macro, database).
Categorizes and segments extracted data using tools to convert data to information relevant to the report (excel, macro, database).
Combines extracted data from different system tools in one single database using queries (SQL, MS Access).
Performs data validation to achieve data consistency.
Generates, analyzes, creates report / dashboard from diverse sources and submit to requestors.
Creates reports based on standard templates.
Creates and tests dynamic reports based on the designed format.
Creates histograms, charts, summaries as necessary to aid in easy interpretation and better provide decision support to the Marketing and Sales Community.
Formulates alternative solutions on issues encountered.
Enhances tools / scripts that can automate the reporting process (Excel Macro, VBA, SQL, Access).
Clarifies, evaluates and recommends scope, timeline and report structure.
Gathers and collates data from different sources based on approved requirements (Established Simple Reporting).
Provides status updates on report development, raise issues encountered and adjust timeline as appropriate.
Identifies continuous improvement project ideas
Conducts basic / overview / awareness training on product, process and ERP / business tools.
Records and reviews / assesses the improvement / innovation raised by the business unit.
Bachelor’s Degree in (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems or similar) or equivalent.
Minimum two years' experience in reports and data analysis.
Minimum two years' experience in programming and reports automation
Expert proficiency in MS Excel, SQL, Visual Basic, Visual Basic NET and MS Access, strong proficiency with other MS Office Applications.
Experience in developing Macros using VBA.
Comprehension of technology and data management used in process of collecting, storing and retrieving data.
Medium SQL programming; ability to write advanced queries involving table alterations, selects, joins, and views.
Experience in project management highly desired.
Experience in Visual Studio highly desired.
Knowledge in relational database highly desired.
Written and oral English skills in a technical environment
