The Impact : The editor will help drive the accuracy, timeliness, relevance and readership of the Retail News Group. You will help the News team provide accurate and timely news to our clients, helping provide them with the essential intelligence they need to make the right business decisions.

The Team / The Business : The role will have you working with a global team of News people. You will interact with colleagues in our News Desks in the US, UK, and Hong Kong, as well as colleagues in Pakistan and India.

Your Skills : Ideally, you should have a solid background in editing, writing, and a keen eye for details. You must be able to work well under pressure and with a tight deadline.

Knowledge of business news is a plus.

Our Hiring Manager says : We are looking for an experienced editor who can judge which stories are newsworthy in the financial sector, who is strong in writing headlines and understanding what our readers need, and who is fanatical about producing error-free copy.

Responsibilities :

  • News editing. Ensures that news and analysis is appropriately distributed and made visible in the company’s products. Directs proprietary coverage of assigned sectors, which includes assigning, developing and editing stories with an eye toward clarity, accuracy and consistency with procedures.
  • New writing. Develops original stories for significant product impact.
  • Checks data and graphics for accuracy and consistency.
  • Communicates effectively and fluently with writers / analysts to ensure accuracy of output.
  • Training. Works one-on-one with editors and writers to improve the written English of the existing News workforce.
  • Completes other assignments or projects as assigned
  • Requirements :

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's / College Degree in Journalism, Economics, Finance / Accountancy / Banking, Mass Communications or equivalent.
  • At least 5 year(s) of working experience as a writer or editor.
  • Experience in people management is a plus.
  • Have a strong interest in financial or business news.
  • Must be amenable to work in Pasig and during holidays.
  • Must be amenable to a night shift schedule
