Position Description :
Develops and maintains a strong technical competency in our core products, customer requirements, and manufacturing processes.
Provides metallurgical, technical, scientific expertise, and applied research to manufacturing, focused on product and process improvement.
Remains current on new technology options for Ametek products and manufacturing processes, and regularly shares information with the workforce, customers, and vendors.
Design tooling and fixtures, and generate associated drawings using CAD software
Develops and drives several concurrent operational excellence (OPEX) projects.
Internal auditing for ISO-9001-2015 compliance
Supports safety improvements of equipment and processes, and promotes Zero-Incident culture.
Generates new / updated Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and Process Control Plans.
Accountable for ensuring all changes are focused on worker safety, compliance with environmental regulations, and integrated with the Company quality systems.
Generates weekly, monthly, and other reports to document and communicate all Process Engineering activities.
Works with Engineering Manager and others to originate Capital Appropriation Requests and similar documents to support new or changed equipment, systems and resources.
Collects, interprets, and analyzes data to write reports and make recommendations.
Performs Root Cause / Failure Analysis of products during manufacturing and / or during fabrication / assembly of product.
Position Requirements :
BS in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering or a similar science major.
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably metals processing, with emphasis on process improvement and new product development and an understanding of manufacturing processes, troubleshooting, and material testing.
General metallurgical laboratory skills.
General understanding of digital controllers and data acquisition systems in a manufacturing environment, with ability to program simple controllers and data recorders.
Strong background in math and statistics preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, associated office programs, and statistical software packages. Capable of performing complex computations in Excel.
Solid skills as a leader and the proven ability to manage multiple priorities with timely results.
Experience with CAD software. SolidWorks preferred.
Proven ability to work productively with individuals at all levels inside and outside the organization.
Works independently with minimum supervision.
Leads problem-solving teams and participates effectively as a team member.
Ability to interface with vendors, customers, and cross-functional teams to solve problems.
