Description ASUMMARY :

This position will be one of a team of writers developing online documentation, training guides, and implementation guides for web-

based applications, as well as publishing and maintaining hard copy and online documentation for RealPage products. This position will work with business analysts and developers as well as other writers and the technical editor.

This individual must be technically-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines. The Instructional Writer will also assume some responsibilities for developing new documentation plans and training plans and serving as a subject matter expert for application content.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following :

  • Design, develop, and maintain training materials to facilitate instructor-led classroom training classes.
  • Construct and maintain datasets to support training materials.
  • Create and maintain hard copy User Guides, Training Guides, Implementation Guides, Release Notes, Quick Reference Guides and other collateral material.
  • Assume responsibility for managing and coordinating update schedules for training materials.
  • Participate in developing documentation and training plans for new applications and / or new courses.
  • Communicate regularly with Business Analysts, Developers, trainers as well as other writers to ensure documentation is accurate and effective.
  • Document end-user online help system based on written specifications, interviews with other team members, and hands-on testing of the applications.
  • Assume responsibility for managing and coordinating collaborative portions of the online help system.
  • Perform content review of other writers’ documentation.
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

  • BA in English, Communications, or Technical Writing; equivalent experience may be acceptable
  • Minimum five years technical writing experience
  • Minimum three years training or curricula development experience
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, including styles and templates
  • Online Help development experience a strong plus (Author-it, RoboHelp)
  • Familiarity with HTML or Windows-based single-source documentation tools
  • Familiarity with Windows-based or web-based documentation tools
  • Familiarity with software as a service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work as part of a fast-paced, dynamic team
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with others to achieve desired results; must be approachable
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with little supervision
  • Ability to adhere to corporate standards and styles
  • Ability to manage multiple projects within strict deadlines
  • Rental market real estate experience a plus
