Description The Failure Analysis Engineer will be a member of a team responsible for analyzing field failures of DeltaV hardware products, finding root cause, and identifying trends of customer induced failures or faulty components.
This role will analyze, qualify, and document failures on returned products. Some portions of the field returns will require formal reports to be provided to the end user. Responsibilities
Identify and evaluate failed components on field returns performing hands-on analysis and debugging ensuring quick turn-around time on the activity.
Work with vendors to identify root cause of failed components and generate reports for customers according to process guidelines.
Provide feedback to development and support personnel to allow for continuous improvement on the product offering.
Bachelor of Science Electrical / Electronic Engineering
Minimum 4 years of related work experience in Hardware Engineering or Component Engineering, including : Analog and digital circuit design Embedded microprocessor & FPGA design Understanding of signal integrity for high-speed design On board power supply design (voltage conversion)
Familiarity with lab equipment such as voltmeters and oscilloscopes.
Experience with equipment used to replace electronic component, (soldering equipment).
Experience with environmental chambers used to stress field returns.
Demonstrated strong communication skills with ability to relay technical information in English (verbal, written and interpersonal) to exchange information on field failures.
Analytical ability to determine and develop solutions to moderately complex problems
Experience in product failure analysis and root cause identification
Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and / or changing priorities
Experience successfully collaborating (either by telephone, e-mail or directly) with people in multiple countries and time zones, exchanging information
