The Security Officer at the Montgomeryville, PA plant is responsible for the physical security of the plant. This includes monitoring live cameras, coordinating controlled access for shipments and screening visitors.
The Security Officer is also responsible for the security of plant employees including issuing employee badges and access.
Finally, the Security Officer is responsible for the overall protection of Thales assets, secure product and secure components.
Control access and egress to building and grounds. Open and close plant when necessary.
Coordinate all visitors : Control access to shipping / receiving docks, prepare visitor badges and control their use, ensure proper identification.
Record and log all pickups and deliveries.
Monitor video equipment for security problems, violations, etc. and report it to appropriate party. Prepare incident reports for unusual or suspicious situations, seeking immediate assistance when necessary.
Maintain security access control system : adding and employee badges, making changes of access, responding to exceptions / alarms, controlling and issuing temporary and visitor access badges, communicating with security vendor for assistance.
Operate CCTV system. Review recorded events when necessary.
Respond to all incoming plant phone calls, which do not use the automated system. Route calls, record and distribute messages, report problems to system administrator.
Conduct security orientation for new employees and updates / reorientation of current employees.
Maintain employee’s security files / records. Complete paperwork and forms.
Tour facility for security violations. Provide key / combination control. Maintain current records of key / combo holders’ access.
Control access to keys / combinations.
Identify, evaluate and initiate corrective action on any aspects of security, seeking assistance or advice as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
1 year of experience in law enforcement or security
1+ year Experience working with Access Control Systems
1+ year Experience working with computers (Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
1+ year Experience working with burglar alarms and fire alarm systems
Strong communication / interaction skills
Must be able to interact effectively with all levels of employees and customers. Able to provide security demonstrations and tours.
Ability to react calmly and quickly in crisis situations.
Ability to react quickly in emergency situations.
Able to interact with law enforcement, fire department and health & safety agencies.
