Reporting to Department / Unit Manager. The Catering Associate is responsible for carrying out assigned operational duties and tasks in the function of Marine HR operations which can include but not limited to Recruitment, Catering Management and Ships Mail.
This role supports Marine People Team to strengthen, develop, maintain and optimize end-to-end Marine HR processes in line with strategy and policies set by Strategy team
The primary area of focus will be continuous improvement of the relationship with our seafarers and be available to our seafarers and other stakeholders in times of need
Other key tasks :
Independent management of daily operational responsibilities pertaining to Catering Management which includes assistance on the following : Requisition approval of procurements thru Ship Manager, budget monitoring of vessels, preparation of Victualling Cost Analysis (VCA) and Training of catering staff
Provides general administrative support to HR functions in different areas
Ensure compliance with agreed SLA’s, SOP’s and Key Performance Indicators
Ensure set standards of provisions for articles are maintained by suppliers and involvement on proper updating of provision article catalogue;
Engage proactively in the development of catering supportive tools thereby resulting in cost effectiveness and savings;
Participate in the review of GLSM procedures pertaining to the scope of Marine HR;
May provide support to employee or crew operations within a limited area of responsibility
We are looking for :
The ideal candidate should be a College Graduate and has experience in administration roles with good interpersonal and people skills.
Self-starter and highly motivated individual who can work in a challenging environment.
Has at least 3-5 years of crewing / marine operations / human resources or related experience.
Analytical and resourceful and enjoys taking initiative to improve work processes.
Possess good communication skills to be able to work diplomatically with seafarers and their families.
Have good stakeholder management skills and must be able to find win-win solutions
Listen actively and invites dialogue for exchanged opinions, then influences and acts to drive performance and achieve results
Prior team lead or management experience an added advantage
Have excellent English language skills verbal and written
