Overview

The Solution Architect, Manager, will be responsible for looking horizontally across existing Mastercard assets to package solutions which address segment pain points and opportunities.

The Solution Architect must understand the needs of our customers and deliver repeatable and configurable solutions by leveraging the full suite of Mastercard assets to solve those problems.

Compared to functional experts who solution vertically, Solution Architects have the entire Mastercard toolbox at their disposal, including core products, digital products, new and existing payment solutions, Cyber & Intelligence, Data & Services (loyalty, test & learn, analytics), marketing, financial Inclusion / ESG, and more.

They are focused on helping the front-line salespeople have productive, more holistic conversations with processor customers, deepening our stickiness through asset sales and thought leadership.

Role

  • Shape the packaging strategy for Mastercard products and services targeted to Issuer and Acquirer processors with the goal of winning new business, maximizing GDV, and driving new service revenue.
  • Align to the goals of the Processor and Acquirer teams to meet their segment’s needs (KPIs : Segment Revenue, Segment GDV, and Segment share).
  • Develop off-the-shelf product and service bundles to serve the needs of the segments; rinse and repeat wherever possible.
  • Lead custom solutioning efforts in conjunction with supporting functional SMEs that address particular customer needs in an effort to advance our powered by Mastercard agenda.
  • Lead efforts to position Mastercard as the network of choice for long-term, enterprise-wide strategic partnerships with processors through holistic solutioning across the complete Mastercard toolbox.
  • Be a right hand to the processor and acquirer account teams to prepare the materials, demos, and custom content together for the customer pitches and quarterly business reviews.
  • Develop compelling narratives in support of integrated solutions relevant to issuing and acquiring processor prospects and customers.
  • Provide voice of customer input to the product and service teams for ongoing refinement and to enhance their bundles and product strategies to meet the needs of the segment.
  • Support Product teams in positioning their products appropriately for the issuing and acquiring processor segments.

  • Identify gaps in MasterCard’s capabilities and work with Product and Services owners and account teams on ways to address them.
  • Lead a monthly cross-functional Community meeting to create transparency and efficiently across the supporting team and to advance new bundles and narratives.
  • Complete comprehensive and regular market competitive assessments to identify strategies for better positioning Mastercard services and to inform our selling narrative.
  • Be the point contact and prepare the materials / demos for all RFPs and bring products / service, propositions, marketing together for the customer pitches.
  • Identify gaps in Mastercard’s capabilities and works with Product Managers and account teams on ways to address them.
  • Identify synergies for selling Mastercard services to our largest processors with both issuing and acquiring capabilities.
  • About You

  • Expertise in Mastercard products and services, or the demonstrated ability to learn them quickly.
  • A problem-solver with the ability to knit different assets together to address a customer pain point or opportunity.
  • Broad understanding of the complete Mastercard toolbox (or the ability to learn the toolbox quickly) including assets from the following areas : Product, D&S, C&I, Open Banking, Digital, New Payment Flows, Small Business, and Marketing.
  • A strong storyteller with an ability to clearly articulate the why Mastercard position; well-honed written communication skills.
  • Highly collaborative; strong communicator, natural integrator with demonstrated ability to develop and deliver solutions for customer needs.
  • A plus : solid product management and / or product development orientation with the ability to manage for differentiation, consumer experience, quality, and economics.
  • Ability to rally and gain backing from internal stakeholders in order to build organizational support for the proposed solution.
  • Digitally savvy / literate.
  • Comfortable pulling data and drawing insights from it.
