The Network Engineer under the Technical Support Group will act as the 2nd level of support to any network related issues escalated by the NOC Team and also performs escalation / coordination to Level 3 support.
The incumbent will also ensure proper network documentation are in-place and regularly updated. Overall function would also include liasing with vendors and project management teams and also implement additional projects as required based on PT&T capacity / technology upgrades.
Incident Management Work with Level 1 / NOC engineers to provide resolutions to any escalated network issues Documenting and tracking issues, and keeping customer support group updated regarding the status of any escalated issues
Fault Management Coordinates with other technical group on the resolution of network related issues Escalates L3 network related issues to Level 3 support Coordinates with different vendors for any equipment related issues Creation of RCA (Root Cause Analysis) for any network related outages and issues
Change Management Creation of MOP (Method of Procedure) for any planned activity which requires changes on the network configuration Assesses the risk of implementing planned activity and its impact in the entire network Performs onsite / field work (i.
e., troubleshoot, conduct software upgrades) Collates and provides report on the implementation of planned change activity Maintain documentation regarding network configuration (network diagrams HLD / LLD), operating procedures and update fellow engineers for any change made on the network
Vendor Management and Project Implementation Liaises with vendors for any POC(proof of concept), demo of equipment as offered by vendors Creation of Test Procedures based on PT&T requirement for any POC Responsible for management (i.
e., creation of project timeline, coordination with stakeholders) and implementation of projects as required Creation of SOC / SOR Statement of Compliance / Share of Responsibilities based PT&T requirement
Other Tasks Generation of reports(i.e., Network Utilization, Level 2 received issues, etc.) as requested by the Lead / Manager Performs ad-
hoc tasks as assigned by the Lead / Manager
Completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering or any IT Related courses focusing on Network Engineering
Preferably Licensed Electronics and Communication Engineer
At least CCNA / JNCIA / MTCNA or any network engineering related certification (Professional Certification is an advantage)
At least 2 years of practical experience in network engineering preferably in the Internet Service Provider (ISP) Field
Experience in a multi-vendor setup
Ability to manage and interact with carrier support centers and engineers when implementing solutions, troubleshooting issues
Practical experience in deploying / configuring / troubleshooting EPON / GPON equipment
Practical experience in configuring / troubleshooting L2 / L3 equipment
Extensive experience with configuration of the following vendors : Mikrotik / Huawei / Juniper / Cisco
Extensive knowledge in Switching Technology, 802.1q, 802.1ad, RSTP, MSTP
Knowledge in routing protocols : BGP, OSPF
Knowledge in DWDM technology is an advantage
Experience in monitoring tools : MRTG, WhatsUp
Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite
Competent in using Visio
Have handled multiple projects and able to meet set deadline
Proficient with writing reports, business correspondences, and procedure manuals.
Must be able to relay technical information to non-technical personnel
Excellent time management skills and ability to meet set-deadlines
