Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager has overall project responsibility. In order to achieve success, the Project Manager should work closely with the Head of Delivery with respect to staffing requirements and funding availability for the Avaloq business unit.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for completing the project(s) on time, within budget, and meeting the quality criteria and requirements.

The Senior Project Manager in the development center coordinates with the Project Manager from the client side (bank). He / she, in coordination with team / development team lead, is responsible for assigning tasks to development team, developing and tracking log that details all the tasks to be carried out, consultants assigned to work on each task, milestones and deadlines for deliverables, and overall phasing of the project.

He / she accomplishes project objectives by planning and evaluating project activities.

General Functions

Manage a portfolio of software development projects for the Avaloq business unit

Ensure project methodologies and procedures are always followed

Maintain staff productivity and organize training where required

Establish and maintain the quality assurance policy and quality measurements (KPI)

Resolve escalated project requirements issues, remove barriers and obstacles for the project

Review / approve commitments to external entities (e.g., customers, vendors)

People Management :

levels of each staff member, current project allocation and expected availability dates are readily available as basis in allocating staffs to projects.

Equip projects with right kind of skill sets and experience levels.

Project Management :

Project Initialization Phase

Validate Project Plan together with the team / development lead and the test lead, tailoring the plan to reflect project needs.

Develop the supporting plans such as cost, risk, schedule, quality, resource, and communication plans

Obtain stakeholder approval and acceptance of the Project Plan

Obtain organizational commitment and support for completion of project task assignments, timing and quality

Project Development Phase

Develop and distribute project status reports. Regularly review project status, evaluating performance criteria (scope, cost, schedule & quality)

Develop and manage corrective action plans

Evaluate project performance and initiate change requests as required (scope, cost, schedule or quality)

Review project risks and establish risk response plans

Closing Phase

Monitor release packaging of the solutions

Plan and initiate the implementation tasks for the onsite team

Manage issues and concerns occurring during the onsite implementation

Obtain client and management approval and acceptance of completed project

Complete project closure process

Responsibilities :

Monitoring of the team's progress and management of the team's deliverables

Creation of daily status reports via email

Creation and update of issue tracking

Produce monthly KPI reports and release issue tracker

Resource planning and allocation

Timesheet monitoring and processing overtime claims

Qualifications :

At least 10 years' experience in project management

Must have prior experience executing Waterfall and Agile projects

Must have experience with offshore software development and delivery

Prefer industry experience in banking

Any experience in core banking is a plus

Should come from a software development background

Has worked with all levels of stakeholders including C-level

Experience working with banking executives is a plus

Good to have worked internationally or similar to multination experience

Proven leadership and strong written and verbal communication skills

Excellent business communication skills

Excellent organization and coordination skills

  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and clients
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills - experience with complex issues resolution highly preferred

  • Self-motivated and possess high degree of self-leadership
  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree
