Senior Scala / Java Backend Developer-(220000PI)
CWT is looking for a Sr. Scala / Java Developer with strong knowledge in Scala or Java , to join our Data & Analytics department .
The department is developing the company’s Global Information Systems and keeping them aligned with company’s business needs.
To achieve this mission, the team is leading projects from business requirements gathering to project delivery.
You will be working with the TC Team to enhance our travel management and analytics application which is one of the best in the industry.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Development, testing, and deployment of application deliverables to meet business needs Write new or modify existing code Write and execute comprehensive unit test code
Issue resolution & escalation to meet requirements for project status reporting Maintain overall system health by pro-actively monitoring and scanning for potential issues
Integrate with an Agile Scrum team Effectively communicate with the rest of the Scrum team and the Product owner Estimate workload for tasks as part of Story Refinement sessions Indicate performed and upcoming activities as well as known impediment / issue.
Take ownership of all assigned tasks and project-related assignments Ensure direct communication over email / ticketing chain to ensure timely resolution of stories and tasks Effectively advocate and disseminate coding best practices in the team
Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
At least 7 years experience in software development
At least 5 years experience in a team lead capacity
Strong development skills in Scala or Java
Solid working knowledge of and experience in SQL
Working knowledge of Big Data and Cloudera, experience using Cloudera tools such as Hue, a plus
Strong knowledge of the SDLC
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Fluent in English (written and verbal)
Ability to deal within a multicultural and distributed environment (ability to communicate effectively in a conference call setting)
Agile collaboration suite (Rally, JIRA or equivalent)
Pro-active and independent, requiring minimum to no supervision
