Day to Day Request and Maintenance Work (Lower Level Skills)
Manage MQ resource definitions online and via batch, including define / alter / delete of queues, channels, process definitions, etc.
for both distributed and mainframe environments
Maintain z / OS MQ JCL started task members with current libraries and datasets
Maintain z / OS MQ initialization-parameter member (zparm) with appropriate system and logging values
Build from scratch as well as clone MQ sub-systems
Assist in defining MQ connections in CICS regions
Configure / initiate listener tasks
Document changes and new procedures
Update and complete change / request / incident tickets within appropriate timeframes
Attend meetings as required
Take call 24X7 for MQ issues during 1-week time frame within team rotation
Monitoring, CICS Configuration, Problem Resolution, and Upgrade Skills (Higher Level Skills)
Create historical reports using Tivoli and SMF data in response to customer inquiries regarding MQ transaction response time, storage & CPU usage, etc.
Monitor CICS performance using Omegamon and TMON in response to client calls about transaction response time, storage & CPU usage, etc.
Participate in workload migrations moving into or out of FIS tech centers
Participate in annual Disaster Recovery exercise activities : attending meetings, making MQ resource definition changes, etc.
Perform upgrade activities required when moving MQ to newer versions or releases
Update MQ regions with changes required for z / OS, DB2, 3rd party product upgrades
Research and apply fixes to MQ and MB
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides technical support activities for a production processing environment.
Installs, maintains and supports operating system and / or its components and subsystems.
Analyzes and resolves problems related to failures in operating system and ancillary software components.
Provides technical assistance to programming staff in analyzing application software amends, performance and resource consumption.
Creates and maintains complete documentation as it relates to installation and status of software.
24x7 support for operating systems and ancillary software.
Educates internal users on software capabilities and use.
Other related duties assigned as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
