SUMMARY
The Director of Housing and Residential Life (Director) has oversight of educational and developmental functions to provide an inclusive, safe, and positive residential community life reflective of the University’s core values.
The Director leads the Residence Life program and works in concert with residential life operational units Residence Operation (Hall Access, Assignments, Desk Operations and Marketing) to create a seamless, student-focused department.
creates and implements the Living and Learning Communities; oversees on-call and duty response protocols; and collaborates with Student Conduct to enforce and adjudicate residence hall and University policies.

The Director of Residence Life role is an onsite live-in position.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, develops, implements and maintains policies and procedures for the administration of the residence hall, suites, and apartment systems.
Ensures a high quality, safe, healthy and comfortable living environment with educational and social programs in the residence halls, suites, and campus apartments.
Oversee the development and implementation of new programs, services, and strategies to improve customer service and satisfaction while sustaining optimal occupancy levels.
Coordinates services with other campus departments such as student affairs, dining services, general counsel, facilities management, public safety, academic affairs, etc.
Performs all duties in compliance with applicable University policies and procedures and state and federal requirements.
Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
Develops and implements programs that meet the needs of the student body and create a strong sense of belonging and connection to Marymount University.
Provides oversight of residential staff, including student workers, the Director will design and implement an inclusive residential environment conducive to learning and engagement.
OTHER DUTIES AND ASSIGNMENTS
Plays a key role in coordinating emergency responses as a member of the division -level emergency response rotation.
Serves as a first responder to crises and / or emergency situations on campus as necessary and provides counseling and referral to university and local agencies as needed for the student population.
Provides on-call duty coverage for both main campus and off campus apartment.
Trains, supports, and evaluates departmental (outside) advisor(s) with engagement initiatives for assigned groups.
Requires working occasional nights and weekends for training sessions, yield events, student programming and events on campus.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Master’s degree in appropriate discipline from an accredited institution preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline from an accredited institution required.
Experience
3 to 5 years of related experience at a higher educational institution required.

Financial Responsibility
Processes or records financial transactions within established guidelines and safeguards.
Supervision
Training, development, and coaching employees. Assigning projects and providing weekly work direction to student staff.
Special Knowledge
Budgeting, assessment, management, supervision, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Org Sync, Google Suite.
Strong written and verbal communication, initiative / self-Motivated, organized, time management.
Experience with eRezLife, Colleague, Workday, and Maxient Conduct Management software a plus.
