The Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Center and Dr. Zhenqiu Liu’s laboratory are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at the Department of Public Health Sciences, Penn State College of Medicine.

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the candidate fellow will be involved and primarily responsible for :

  • the Developing machine learning and statistical algorithms to analyze, interpret, and integrate publicly available data, including TCGA, TARGET, COSMIC, ENCODE, and GTEX, dbGaP, and other high-throughput sequencing datasets from individually relevant studies.
  • Collaborating with prominent principal investigators at the Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Center, performing next generation sequencing (NGS) analysis, and developing research strategies for our collaborators.
  • Minimum Qualifications should be :

  • a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, statistics / biostatics, applied math, or another appropriate field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NGS data analysis flow and hands-on experience with at least one aspect of its applications (e.
  • g., WGS / WES, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, etc.)

  • Basic knowledge of human genome, gene expression, and cell biology.
  • Familiar with R and one or more other programming languages, e.g., Python, Perl, C++, JAVA, or MATLAB.
  • The ability of independent learning and thinking in a highly dynamic and decentralized environment, as well as being a team player to contribute to many ongoing collaborative projects.
  • This position is full-time (100% FTE), 12-months / year, with an initial term appointment of one year (12 months), renewable depending on satisfactory performance and funding availability.

    There are plenty of opportunities to interact with bioinformatics faculties and postdoctoral fellows on campus, including those in the Department of Public Health Sciences, Institute of Personalized Medicine, and the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular biology.
