Job Description

  • Support the planning and the development of allocated projects from feasibility stage to handover to the operational staff, to achieve design, service, operational and profit objectives while ensuring client satisfaction
  • Prepare and track plans, forecast and escalate risks and resourcing constraints
  • Support the project manager in feasibility analysis, including financial assessment and KPI due diligence of allocated projects
  • Liaise with design staff / consultants in the determination and coordination of designs and design requirements to meet the client needs
  • Liaise with all external suppliers that will be delivering equipment, software and services as part of the overall project execution.
  • Track and monitor project costs against budget
  • Prepare, review and up-date project planning schedules
  • Maintain communication with clients at all stages of projects and resolve related problems in conjunction with appropriate staff / consultants
  • Perpetuate a positive, proactive, team-based culture within the operations team through regular and effective communication
  • Contribute to building a strong team ethos that facilitates continuous improvement and the creation of a high-performance culture
  • Enhance team member engagement by encouraging input, recognising performance and empowering team members to take responsibility for outcomes
  • Ensure all work is compliant with all laws, regulations and policies

  • Perform project tasks as directed by the assigned project manager

    A Project Manager may perform all or any combination of generic functions including, but not limited to, the following :

  • Manage project deliverables to the assigned project budget
  • Maintain communication and transparency of all project tasks and costs to relevant stakeholders and escalate issues as required
  • Requirements

    Business (Knowledge / Experience)

  • Read and understand operational cost models and be able to commit to the success of the selected design
  • The ability to meet strict deadlines imposed by others
  • Understanding of basic profit and loss and balance sheet concepts
  • Familiarity with KPI’s using them to monitor and manage the operation
  • Be able to support the project manager to prepare and execute a tender process for major capital equipment
  • Be able to understand cost justifications and capital expenditure requests for major capital purchases
  • Technical / Professional Skills required

  • Strong and proven technical working experience in Transport System, Warehouse Management and Network Optimisation
  • Have an understanding of supply chain functions and opportunities and be able to apply those to the design of a new supply chain network
  • The ability to interpret customer requirements and translate those into an operational solution
  • An understanding of Warehouse Management Systems, their uses and applications
  • The ability to support projects in other places including Australian States and Asia
  • Operational warehouse experience, knowledge and ability
  • Problem solving ability with a solutions orientation
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to make and execute effective decisions
  • Able to demonstrate the highest level of confidentiality at all times
  • Qualifications Education and / or professional experience

  • Minimum of 5 years working on large Retail, FMCG or Automation projects
  • University or Tertiary : A degree in Business or Logistics or a related discipline from a recognized university or tertiary institution would be highly regarded
