General Ledger Management

  • Oversee the processing, reporting, transactions, re-evaluations and closing process for the following :
  • General ledger posting
  • Inter-company transactions
  • Fixed Asset accounting
  • Reporting and consolidation
  • Ensure that general ledger function follows proper procedures in accordance with corporate company accounting policy
  • Proactively identify, rectify and follow-up errors and causes of errors
  • Ensure high quality and accuracy of work and service by GL team through regular review, checks and approval
  • Resolve complex or critical process issues which go beyond GL team member’s capabilities
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all aspects of general ledger and inter-company transactions and matters
  • Oversees the monthly, quarterly and year-end closing process and coordinate with respective parties as required (e.g. other teams, customer contact)
  • Manage generation and analysis of reports
  • Assist in developing policies and procedures to ensure that service levels are met including coordination with required parties on monitoring and metrics reporting in order to assess performance of the individual team members
  • Internal and External Representation

  • Develop, build and maintain relationships with all markets and business sector(s) serviced by GFS-Asia Pacific (Manila)
  • Ensure that service levels and targets are met and service is delivered to customers in accordance to defined Service Level Agreements
  • Continuous Improvement

  • Work with General Accounting Process Manager to identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and innovate solutions and system enhancements so the team can operate in an efficient and cost effective manner
  • Proactive involvement in determining and implementing best practices
  • Assist General Accounting Process Manager in implementing business process improvement initiatives to the team as required
  • Team Performance

  • Ensure team members have the appropriate skills, supporting tools and technologies to enable them to deliver excellent customer service
  • Provide leadership, coaching, training and guidance team so they can proactively carry out their role to the highest possible standard
  • Manage and monitor team performance on a regular basis to ensure that service levels and targets as defined in Service Level Agreements are met;
  • and take corrective action when required

    Work planning and Resource Allocation

  • Develop and manage work schedules and activities, back up procedures and staffing requirements to ensure coverage at all times
  • Pro-actively allocate resources as required, including job rotation and cross training to facilitate knowledge sharing

  • Assist the General Accounting Process Manager to develop, manage and adjust GA team goals
  • Develop individual team members using an on-going coaching, objective setting, personal development and performance assessment and feedback sessions
  • Assist in recruitment, retention and motivation of staff as required

  • Work with Supervisor to set personal goals and objectives
  • Meet training responsibilities by attending scheduled training
  • Develop, maintain personal knowledge base of and adhere to procedures, business processes, and relevant application systems of own area of responsibility

  • Be receptive to developmental feedback and strive to eliminate discrepancies between required competencies and current abilities

  • Qualifications

  • University degree in finance related field or equivalent
  • At least 3-5 years experience in the general ledger function
  • At least 1-2 years in a supervisory role
  • Professional certification (e.g. CPA) desirable
  • Experience in shared services center of a multinational corporation desirable
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
