We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Solution Architect .

The Solution Architect job is accountable for enabling the technical development and run-time operation of products and services within a Product Group or a set of development teams.

  • Work with Product Owners and DevOps teams, and responsible for the delivery, on-going success & continuous improvement of a discrete set of products or business services, or shared products / platforms / environments that are used / consumed by other DevOps Teams
  • Accountable with the Head of Architecture (Product) / Product lead to review requirements from a testability perspective and formulate the non-functional testing strategy
  • Accountable together with Security Specialists or Product owner to formulate the security testing strategy
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance of the products and services with mandatory and regulatory requirements, control objectives in the risk and control framework and technical currency (in line with published standards and guidelines) and, with the architecture function, implementation of the business imperatives
  • Accountable for ensuring that all activities performed by teams adhere to the relevant prevailing data standards and data controls
  • Accountable for the creation and management of epics, backlog management and prioritisation across teams and for conformance to the IT operating model with regards to Agile and Technology Practices
  • Accountable for ensuring that all activities performed by Teams adhere to the relevant Service Management Standards, and high data quality exists in Service Management systems of record
  • Work with product owner & team to ensure that service levels are maintained and improved
  • Ensure the cost base for the products and services is managed in line with controls applied by the Head of (Product) Technology and associated Chief Information Officer (CIO) function
  • Ensure that the product test strategy includes Test automation, Test Data and Environments including virtual services
  • Establish a digital environment and automate processes to minimize variation and ensure predictable high quality code and data
  • Ensure service resilience, service sustainability and recovery time objectives are met for all the software solutions delivered
  • Principal Responsibilities

    Collaborate with senior leaders in business and technology to define MVP scope for various initiatives and design solutions that align with enterprise technology strategy.

    Provide architectural strategy and leadership to develop and implement initiatives that improve innovation in a constantly evolving ecommerce & web content space.

    Evaluate emerging technology for use across multiple domains, which include RFPs, vendor evaluations and creation of Architecture Design Proposals.

    Ensure the global eCommerce solution adheres to non-functional, and compliance requirements at the local markets.

    Develop solutions to problems via use of methodologies and software application tools, and work with Product Owners to drive product vision, manage scope and expectations.

    Design reliable, scalable, and performant end-to-end architectures which can support sites in a number of geographies across the globe.

    Have responsibility for the quality of the technical solution delivered by project teams.

    Work with project management and business analysts to manage the flexible scope with business owners

    Provide technical leadership and mentoring of technical leads and development teams

    Have a strong focus on the high quality throughout the entire process, working closely with the Quality Assurance stream

    Collaborate with Enterprise Architects for aspects related to integration with other systems

    Architect Digital Consumer experiences based on a foundation of enterprise technologies that define web content and eCommerce strategy.

    Requirements

    Strong solutions architecture experience with complex enterprise solutions.

    Good understanding of Content Management Systems.

    Strong experience delivering scalable eCommerce solutions.

    Knowledge of AWS cloud architecture, including auto-scaling and global deployments of application architecture

    J2EE, Design Patterns, Non-Functional Requirements.

    Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, relational databases, complex integration landscapes.

    Principles of Lean Startup Methodology and a VC-style portfolio management; able to imbed those into HSBC’s Agile methodology.

    Critical is the ability to evolve new or start-up propositions to at least stage A or B.

    Ecosystem knowledge and connectivity including incubators, accelerators, VCs and startups.

    Hands on delivery of digital products in a large enterprise.
