The City of Takoma Park, known for its rich and diverse arts community, is seeking an arts intern who will gain real-world experience in the field of arts and humanities.
During this 12-month internship, the selected candidate will assist in the coordination, promotion, and staffing of the Takoma Park Arts series, which includes concerts, dance performances, theater, film screenings, poetry readings and art exhibitions.
The intern also will assist with public art projects and the graphic design of fliers, posters, and other materials. The selected candidate will work approximately 20 hours per week with the possibility of working additional hours depending on the event schedule.
Serve as house manager for performances and assist tech crew as needed; Research and data collection. Minimum qualifications include coursework in arts management or a related field, such as graphic design, public relations, communications or marketing.
Some experience creating graphic design materials is required. Preferred candidates may have graduated in a baccalaureate degree program or be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program, and may have experience coordinating arts programming.
Availability on most Thursday evenings and some weekends to staff arts events. Please upload multiple samples of your graphic design work as well as two writing samples in the documents section of the application process.
The hourly wage for this position is expected to be between $16.00 and $18.00 per hour. A first review of resumes is expected to begin on July 6, 2021, and job will remain open until filled.
