Mandarin Research Associate

Role Summary

The Mandarin Research Associate will work mainly on information research in Chinese and translating documents to English for different teams.

Role mainly includes checking news on a daily basis from stock exchange websites. The Mandarin Research Associate will also research information about a company's financials, using a variety of sources including annual reports, 10-K’s, consolidated financial statements, corporate social responsibility reports, sustainability reports, equity research reports, news publications, research studies, and engagement with the companies themselves.

Responsibilities and Duties :

  • Research (Read through and understand) company’s documents in Chinese to find required information for the client’s analysts.
  • Pass the information to client’s analysts and support them whenever they need more info. (Data capturing) For e.g. : Financial information (like sales, assets, loans, types of shares) etc.
  • Regional presence of a company, information related to Board of directors and various other tasks as needed.

  • Call or send an email to a company, if required, to find necessary information in absence of information in publicly available documents
  • Chinese to English translation of some paragraphs as necessary so that the client’s analysts can understand in English for their further analysis.
  • Complete daily Stock Market announcements checks for to find relevant information or events
  • Prepare supporting file for the market events. (i.e. provide necessary info for an event)
  • Research for any rule changes in China and / or market.
  • English to Chinese translation (Rarely) based on one-off projects
  • Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Must be able to read, write and translate news articles in Mandarin; in both Simplified and Traditional
  • HSK Exam Certification is an advantage
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications
  • Education and Experience :

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's / College Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or Commerce
  • Work experience in web-based searching, data management, and data mining is an advantage
  • Strong analytical ability and able to apply logic to solve problems
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Must be amenable to work on a shifting schedule
  • Fresh Graduates are welcome to apply
