Position Overview

Applied Data Intelligence team provides solutions for the full lifecycle of data content management : vendor procurement, quality analysis, usability, scalability and new product feasibility studies.

We cover a growing set of asset classes and data categories including among others, market data, fundamental data, analyst forecasts, corporate actions and MSCI data.

As a data analyst, you will be part of the applied data intelligence function. Our role is to coordinate and accelerate the handling of data requests within MSCI from internal clients (Research and product teams).

Help Research and Product to make clear decisions on what can and cannot be used for product creation by presenting clear pictures through data analytics.

Other mandate includes applying statistical techniques for data quality assurance and control, automation of data diagnostics, feasibility study for new types of data usage, testing, etc.

Scope of Responsibility

  • Develop business understanding of data and brainstorm on developing data metrics to quantify consistency, quality and stability for existing or new data
  • Do exploratory work to identify patterns in data and derive meaningful information to drive business decisions
  • Work with analyzing voluminous amounts of data through new generation technologies Trading data, fixed income data, high frequency data, etc.
  • Automation of data quality diagnostics by developing automated diagnostics using tools like Python. Ability to analyze data using SQL
  • Use various techniques available in statistics, quantitative finance, etc. to generate insights into data and present findings to internal and external teams
  • Provide recommendations through concise marketing materials in presentations, conference calls
  • Develop standardized templates to document data methodology, or Data Service Agreement for both internal and external clients.
  • Specific Knowledge / Skills

  • Knowledge of PYTHON a must - preferably should have worked with object oriented programming. Application of statistical / mathematical methods in analyzing data.
  • Practical understanding of data analytics and application of quantitative techniques on data
  • Have strong interest or work experience in Finance Stocks, capital markets, bonds, alternate asset classes
  • Have inclination to work on large data sets and come up with creative solutions on data analytics
  • Good communication skills (written and oral) and proficiency in creating presentations.
  • Are an independent worker who is able to drive certain parts of the work with minimal oversight
  • Desired Experience

    Coding experience in Python - preferably should have worked with object oriented programming

    Desired Qualifications

    Bachelors / Masters in Computer Science / Statistics / Finance
