Tech leads are expected to perform the following (for the resources assigned to them to mentor / lead, not more than 10 resources) on top of their project deliverables, with guidance / support from the technical manager :
Be fully responsible with monitoring and building of resource capabilities / skills / character.
Be the point person for any concerns (skills, character, attitude) raised against resources, first point of escalation.
Resolve issues raised against resources.
Propose / create new standards and processes that will be used across the company (not limited to tech).
Remind standards, processes and other comms.
Conduct at least 1-hour meetings with the resources (weekly for the 1st few months then adjust accordingly).
Discuss KPI and CSAT with resources.
Recommend resource standing based on performance.
In charge of staffing requests raised by technical manager (tech mgr is still the point of contact for resourcing needs).
Raise resourcing needs to technical manager.
Assign / review estimation requests.
Conduct PIP with resource (when necessary).
Tech Leads are not expected to perform the following :
Manage the project they are assigned to (should be the PM of the project, tech leads are expected to guide the team on tech-project related concerns).
Perform tech lead roles and responsibilities to the tech resources (or other resources) within the project but not under them (tech lead should advice resource to reach out to respective tech lead at the same time advice peer tech lead to reach out to resource).
