Senior Mechanical Package Designer (M / F)

Job responsibilities for this position include concept analysis for new products, design verification & validation methodology, technology roadmap planning, package assembly & design rule development, and technology test vehicle design.

Key duties and responsibilities :

As Package Development Specialist

  • To perform layout design of power electronics module, such as half / full bridge IGBT / MOSFET / DIODE IPM module, to meet existing or future power module product requirements
  • Be the driver in the technical definition (BOM, package design, Assembly technology, etc) activities for package development projects with major changes / new package, risks and impact.
  • Responsible to generate conceptual package outline and internal construction drawings, finalize and document the drawings and update the package drawings as needed.
  • Create 2D / 3D engineering designs, drawings and schematics from concept models through to final assembly.
  • Responsible to define the package characteristic to meet the electrical, thermal, reliability and mechanical requirements.
  • Undertake engineering analysis and calculations, including the selection of components and materials, enabling effective design optimization and ensuring fitness for purpose.
  • Support pre-development & project definition stage, and continue to be package design expert throughout project phase.
  • Undertake and participate in in-house and client based design reviews.
  • Actively scout for new packaging technologies and keep in touch with the Project Technology Leader.
  • Be in direct contact with customers during the definition and the execution of the product development and ensure business success of the project.
  • As Team Leader

  • Responsible to drive a packaging team for new package development from development process post concept approval to launch.
  • Responsible to ensure all new package development is within timeline and budget and technical & quality standards are achieved to maximise profitability.
  • Responsible to bring team together to ensure proper project execution within team member, BU partner and other interface.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance of control plan deployment and quality controls are met; understanding of key parameters definition and control.
  • Review and checking of engineering drawings.
  • Compilation and review of technical documentation : reports, calculations, specifications, parts lists, prototype manufacturing data.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously and allocate time appropriately, in collaboration with the Technical Project Manager, in order to meet deadlines for delivery.

    Education, Experience and Professional Skills :

    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Semiconductor Technology, Microelectronics, Automation, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics Physics)

    At least 7 years of relevant working experience in Power Semiconductor Electronics.

  • Semiconductor Packaging, Assembly and Test
  • Process and Equipment Engineering knowledge
  • Failure Analysis and Reliability Engineering
  • Analytical and Problem Solving Skills
  • AutoCAD, Solidworks and 3D drafting
  • Knowledge in problem solving techniques like 8D and risk estimation like DFMEA / PFMEA is desired
