JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
The Carrel lab seeks applicants for a research specialist position to conduct research on the role that the X chromosome contributes to gender bias in Lupus, a disorder that predominantly affects females.
The position will involve application of molecular genetic and genomic tools. The successful applicant will work with the Principal Investigator(PI) to design and perform experiments, which will involve genomic DNA and RNA isolation from patient samples and cell lines.
The successful candidate will also perform DNA and RNA analysis, molecular cloning, tissue culture, transfections, gene expression assays, and chromosome analysis.
In addition the successful candidate will perform essential procedures for the lab including preparation of solutions, lab organization, and ordering.
Basic molecular biology methods, tissue culture, and computer literacy are essential. Excellent organizational skills, willingness to learn new techniques, and effective communication skills are required.
