Reporting to the Director Merchandising, you will assist with product assortment development to maintain current style and trends, drive competitive positioning and help ensure the overall profitability of the product category.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the Development and Execution of Assortment planning process
  • Acquire and implement all required data for new product creation on a timely basis for Store placement as well as the Digital Business.
  • Product Store core plan implementation and maintenance
  • Implement Product Knowledge for the Stores for every new item
  • Store visits inspect what is expected regarding signage, display price tags, stack outs, product etc.
  • Assist with a regular regiment of market intelligence to ensure competitive product pricing and assortments
  • Responsibility, with Category Buyer, for product transitions and management of clearance inventory.
  • Implementation and review of all advertising promotional information in all media
  • Financial and sales analysis and reporting for category
  • Development and implementation of chain wide Product Knowledge training information.
  • Learn all components of buying for a category
  • Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education an asset
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Highly developed time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Focused and confident self-starter
  • Ability to build professional working relationships with vendors and colleagues
  • Ability to initiate, develop and deliver plans and programs successfully
  • Developed analytical abilities
  • Computer competence in excel spreadsheet and word programs
  • Developed knowledge and competence in retail systems an asset
