SUMMARY

Reporting into the Chief Privacy Officer, the role will be responsible for developing, maintaining, driving and overseeing the execution of Privacy Risk and Compliance Framework activities that support the implementation of the Global Privacy Program, Policies and Standard across Northern Trust globally.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Focuses on identifying, mapping out, developing, maintaining and overseeing the scope of the Privacy Risk and Compliance Framework that supports the implementation of the Global Privacy Program, Policy and Standards across Northern Trust.
  • Seasoned multi-disciplinary professional with extensive regulatory, technical, business and functional knowledge and experience in Privacy Program and Framework development capabilities, development of Privacy Policies and Standards;
  • identify the need for and complete risk assessments; develop Privacy Metrics and Management Information, reports to internal and external stakeholders;
  • and effectively liaises with Business Units and Operational Functions as required.

  • Supports the Chief Privacy Officer with the development, maintenance, execution of the Privacy Risk Framework and Target Operating Model.
  • Acts as key point of contact for Privacy operations activities, including but not limited to the following :
  • Be the Trusted Adviser to support Business Units and Operational Functions to embed Privacy risk and compliance into day-to-day activities and keep privacy risk management and compliance foremost in everything that we do.
  • Oversees the review, interpretation and dissemination of current and proposed laws and regulations for assigned Subject Matter Expert risk areas.
  • Provides consultancy-type privacy risk service to the Business, offering pro-active, competent and pragmatic advice, interpretation and clarification on Privacy Framework regulatory issues and formal training to Northern Trust staff.
  • Oversees the execution of Privacy risk monitoring and testing, and support the development of metrics and reports advising management of potential compliance risks and issues and recommending control enhancements where needed.
  • Works closely with Global Privacy Team, Risk, Compliance, Technology, Data Governance and other stakeholders as necessary and support others with less experience or knowledge of specific compliance topics to drive and sustain a culture of Privacy compliance.
  • Represents Global Privacy in Business reviews, ad hoc programmes and other internal / external forums as required.
  • Compiles and provides timely, accurate, concise and high-quality reports on Data Privacy Risk to the Chief Privacy Officer and other stakeholders as directed.
  • Provides support to the Chief Privacy Officer on other Privacy risk reduction initiatives as directed.
  • Develops creative ways for embedding Privacy risk into key operational processes in a way that allows partners to clearly understand their compliance duties.
  • Identifies situations to strengthen the management of regulatory risk, including those outside of their assigned SME areas, and recommend plans to address these to the Chief Privacy Officer.
  • Supports the Chief Privacy Officer in delivering other elements of the Privacy Risk Program.
  • KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

  • Seasoned multi-disciplinary professional with extensive regulatory, technical, business and functional knowledge and experience in Privacy Program and Framework development capabilities, development of Privacy Policies and Standards;
  • Knowledge of risk management and strategic goals for the bank's business and the financial services industry.
  • In depth knowledge of regulations impacting Privacy Risk and financial services regulations, acquired through formal education and work experience is required.
  • Proven ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner to diverse and senior audiences.
  • Proven track record in leading privacy risk and incident management and compliance strategies, policy and governance frameworks, implementation of controls to effectively manage compliance risks.
  • Experience and knowledge of existing working practices in the financial services industry, including provision of technical advice, risk management, outsourcing, information security controls, data protection impact assessments, and governance and compliance.
  • Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities, whilst maintaining focus on organization and team activities.
  • Strong written and oral communication and analytical skills are necessary to consult with partners / clients, and analyze information and apply regulations.
  • Proven exceptional learning agility with a keen desire to support the learning of others.
  • Influencing and conflict resolution skills.
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change.
  • EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in financial / banking industry.
  • Minimum 10 years of risk management or compliance experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of working knowledge and expertise in Risk Management and Operations or a related subject e.g. Privacy.
  • Must possess at least a Bachelor's / College Degree
  • Candidates possessing Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or equivalent Privacy certifications are preferred.
  • Privacy Risk Framework Management experience and / or experience of providing Privacy advisory support to other business areas within a financial services environment.
