JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS :

A Researcher / Research Associate faculty position is available in the Department of Pharmacology, Melanoma and Skin Cancer Center, Penn State University College of Medicine in Hershey, PA.

The lab focuses on translational research to elucidate the biology and signaling pathways involved in melanoma tumor development in order to develop the more effective therapeutic agents to treat this disease.

Specifically, it involves identification and validation of novel therapeutic targets, discovery and development of new therapeutic approaches and clinical evaluation of these avenues in patients.

The ultimate goal of this translational research program is to develop more effective therapeutics for the treatment of melanoma based on the biology of the disease.

Candidates must have expertise in in vivo work mouse models, whole animal imaging, surgical skills, tissue culture and flow cytometry.

  • This position requires a PhD in Pharmacology, Toxicology, Cancer biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or a related field; outstanding publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals;
  • experience in small animal handling, drug administration via different routes (oral gavage, IP, IV etc.,); Experience in writing manuscripts and grants.

    Must have excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to details, be capable of conceptualizing, designing experiments and conducting studies independently as well as working with other lab members in a team setting.
