The Big Picture : Howden has an immediate need for an influential Technical Sales Advisor in the Philippines, who will be responsible for proactively visiting customer sites, conducting technical analysis and confidently proposing Howden based solutions to meet their current need state.

This role will also be responsible for ensuring new and aftermarket Howden and other OEM products in the field are installed, operating and maintained to Howden standards and client requirements, andTo assist customers with product challenges, product performance and training, along with assisting the service sales person in generating quotes and winning business.

What needs to be done?

  • Inspection
  • Visit sites on a planned and regular basis to meet with maintenance teams, help understand their challenges, identify the cause of the problem, rectify on site if possible or advise further action to be taken ensuring customer production losses are minimised.
  • Servicing
  • Undertake servicing as part of customer planned maintenance contracts, check equipment, carry out required maintenance and produce a report of work done in order to comply with the Service Level
  • Agreement.
  • Commissioning of New Installations
  • Check the installation and alignment of equipment. Start machinery, check vibrations and temperatures and run the fan for a test period.
  • Complete a Commissioning Report including check sheets and a Take-Over Certificate for contract closures and ensure the machine is ready for full production service.
  • Site / Project Management
  • Take responsibility for managing project execution (technical specifications clarification, scope of supply negotiation, documentation preparation, delivery schedule control, payment collection monitor).
  • Manage contract staff, liaise with client representative / s, budget management, and maintain schedules including progress reports, OHSE management, quality control management, equipment management and accommodation management to ensure acceptable results for Howden and the clients.
  • Troubleshooting
  • Carry out detailed machinery analysis, interpret results and liaise with the Howden engineering department on how to most efficiently resolve customer problems.
  • Aftermarket Sales Support
  • Equipment inspection and reporting.
  • Visiting site with Regional Sales Manager.
  • Provide technical support to Regional Sales Manager and to ongoing projects.
  • Perform technical assessment of proposal prepared by NB and AFM sales team.
  • Embrace Howden’s business management systems and apply the use of the core company values at all times.
  • This role involves travel, which we estimate on average to be 150 days / year away from home and often at very short notice.
  • What do you need to bring?

  • Mechanical engineer with ability to carry out inspections and identify faults or issues
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of working with industrial equipment, preferably rotating equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Cooperative and willing to apply self for the teams benefit, working with colleagues to help customers
  • At least two years’ experience in on site project management
  • Excellent team player who takes pride in transparency and team work
  • Demonstrated customer relationship skills
  • High level of persuasiveness
  • Strong advisory skills
  • Good network of contacts across Philippines industries
  • Demonstrable focus on working safely for self and others
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful environments and when under pressure
  • Self-motivated to plan and carry out daily tasks and visits, reporting via CRM & direct communications.
  • A willingness and desire to be part of a successful team operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand a customer’s problem, and have the maturity and negotiation skills to convince the plant team to divulge the necessary technical information.
  • Desirable skills, knowledge & behaviours
  • Formal training in vibration analysis
  • Experience in working with fans and regenerative heaters.
  • Formal training in OHSE practices
  • Formal Training and / or experience in on-site project management
