Job Description

Subject to the limitations prescribed by law and the school policies and regulations, the duties of an employee shall include, but not limited to the following responsibilities :

Medical Duties

  • This health personnel who occupies this position must have the ability to organize and administer the health care program for the School.
  • She will also act as a resource person for the assigned health facility.

  • The School Nurse must be cognizant of health problems and concern of both students, faculty members, and support staff.
  • This health personnel shall be required to periodically submit reports reviewing the current status of the health delivery systems for the school.
  • The School Nurse periodically submits recommendations that are felt to be necessary to better serve the student and community's health needs.
  • The School Nurse should also be cognizant of student problems that may be generated as a result of family health situations or social problems that may occur.
  • This health personnel is expected to be familiar with the emergency medical procedure and first-aid procedures. The School Nurse is encouraged to enroll in continuing education to remain current in techniques and procedures that pertain to school nursing.
  • For special cases wherein a student has a serious health problem or a major accident in the school premises, the School Nurse is expected to coordinate with school administration in contacting parents / guardian.
  • The School Nurse is responsible for preparing and reviewing all forms for students, faculty members, and support staff.
  • The School Nurse must be discrete, loyal, efficient, and be able to maintain the confidentiality of cases.
  • The School Nurse’s job is not strictly limited to those mentioned above. There will be times she will be asked to do administrative work or as the need arises.
  • Health and Safety Monitoring

  • Investigates or monitors incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of ill health;
  • Undertakes risk assessments and site inspections;
  • Identifies potential health hazards;
  • Drafts internal health and safety policies and protocols to promote student wellness;
  • Compiles statistics on health and safety related incidents / cases;
  • Draws-up safe operational practices and proposes the necessary changes;
  • Writes reports and school-wide information bulletins;
  • Provides health and safety meetings and training courses for employees;
  • Creates programs to promote health and safety to students and employees;
  • Monitors the health and safety of students during the day school and during official school functions;
  • Conducts health inspection of students and employees; and
  • Acts as a liaison with relevant authorities.
  • Keeps up to date and ensures compliance with current health and safety legislation.
  • Administrative Duties

  • General Office Procedures Receives phone calls; Makes calls on behalf of the Principal; Tracks fax and telephone messages;
  • Types reports and other official school documents; Assists in extracurricular activities, school opening, and closing procedures;
  • Prepares copies of correspondence for release and distribution; and Other duties assigned by the Principal.

  • General Accounting
  • Receives payments from students, parents, and teachers;
  • Issues payment receipts;
  • Assists in the preparation of the school budget;
  • Prepares budget requisition following an outlined procedure;
  • Prepares periodical accounting reports; and
  • Collates and organizes documents to support reports.
  • Communication Encodes and disseminate pertinent information; and Facilitates inquiries regarding school and student programs.
  • Documentation Assists in preparing documents for internal and external purposes, namely : school publication, handbooks / manuals, newspaper articles, and other public relations documents;
  • Collects, files, and organizes students’ records; Files & organizes administrative reports and other similar documents; and Compiles documents related to school press releases and other public relations activities.

    Student Affairs

  • Assists in enforcing rules and policies;
  • Helps out with the supervision of students outside the classroom; and
  • Assists in official school events, programs, functions, and activities.
  • Faculty Affairs

  • May be assigned to substitute for faculty members; and
  • Assists in creating activities to improve faculty morale and community.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's / College Degree
  • Preferably 1-4 years experienced employee in the field of healthcare
  • Must be a registered nurse / professional license holder
