Duty 1 : Technical Writing

  • Edits documents (e.g. Operating Manuals, Bulletins, Product Data Sheets, Quick Installation Guides, Proven Results, etc.
  • writings, and illustrations based on the organization’s product information and specification provided by product experts and engineers using the standard document templates

  • Prepares guidelines for Emerson Branding concepts and design for consistency. For both internal and external customers.
  • Edits and lay outs translated documents to align with the English documents
  • Provides inputs on updating technical document templates and process improvement
  • Performs internal quality check on technical documents requests. (Standard / Checklist)
  • Updates Technical Documentation Request (TDR) in SharePoint Tool site
  • Creative Development

  • Performs basic graphics editing i.e. graphic enhancement, layout, adding, trimming of photos
  • Maintains the photo library and other design assets
  • Maintains a portfolio for reference of prospective clients
  • Performs internal quality check on documentation / graphic requests (Standard / Checklist)
  • Duty 2 : Project Support

    Project Initiation

  • Assists project owner in gathering, analyzing and clarifying customer requirements; uses technical knowledge to gauge complexity of the request
  • Project Planning

  • Leads project milestone and gate reviews
  • Creates project scope and timeline for small projects
  • In case of differences, negotiate with clients for small applications
  • Project Execution

  • Develops simple modules, prototypes or mock-ups
  • Duty 3 : Metrics, Reporting and Analytics

    Data Gathering

  • Conducts research to gather qualitative information (check product specifications and information) from internal sources that will be used for analysis.
  • Report Scoping and Planning

  • Creates histograms, charts, summaries as necessary to aid in easy interpretation and better provide decision support to the Integrated Marketing team
  • Report Generation, Analysis and Maintenance

  • Designs, tests and proposes improvement to reporting process optimization
  • Duty 4 : Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Identifies continuous improvement project ideas.
  • Maps processes as part of the procedure documentation
  • Duty 5 : Training and Development

  • Adapts training syllabi, course outlines, lesson plans and content of existing materials (e.g. presentations, evaluation tools, etc.
  • for Technical Writing Specialist training courses for specific audience / scenario

  • Conducts intermediate / comprehensive training on technical software tool usage
  • Education

  • Bachelor’s / College Degree in Marketing, Communication Arts, English or equivalent
  • Job Related Experience

  • 3 years related experience in technical writing or creation of marketing collaterals (Bulletins, Instruction Manuals, Brochures, Flyers, etc.)
  • Specific Knowledge

  • Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, etc.)
  • Intermediate technical capability on Adobe products (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator, etc.)
