Project Manager for the Plastic Pollution Free Coastal Town Project

Area of Assignment : Donsol, Sorsogon
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines is implementing the No Plastics in Nature Initiative which is a network wide initiative to stop plastic wastes from leaking into our oceans by 2030.
Part of its strategies is the Plastic Smart Cities project which is a global movement that aims to engage cities and tourism destinations towards a reduction of plastic pollution by 30% in focus areas or sectors of intervention in 2025 and by 100% in 2030.
WWF Philippines is also implementing the Plastic Pollution Free Coastal Town Project (PPFCTP) in the municipality of Donsol, Sorsogon.
Started in 2019, the goal of this project is a society which functions in a circular economy without plastic pollution; through developing plastic recycling ventures, reducing the use of plastic packaging and adapting local policies for waste management.
A waste collection scheme using single motorbike called NAKAMOTO is being piloted in six (6) inner barangays of Donsol, Sorsogon.
The project also supports the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) a women’s organization on their social enterprise stuffed toys / plushies making using shredded plastic waste as filling materials.
Basic Function : Supervise and ensures smooth implementation of the project’s action plan in Donsol, Sorsogon. The Project Manager will also work closely with the LGU and partners as well as with other stakeholders to attain project’s objectives and deliverables.
Ensuring that Project objectives are met, and developing strategies, activities and monitoring said activities toward achievement of project targets and deliverables.
In cases where strategic adjustment need to be made, consult his / her immediate Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities : The Project Manager will be primarily responsible for the following :
Supervise the overall implementation of the Project through the project site coordinator.
Prepares and revises project work and financial plans, as required.
Liaises with partner LGU, PO concerned government line agencies for effective coordination of project activities.
Submit regular projects reports to HQ and programs donors as duly prescribed.
Provide guidance and technical support to partner PO and BLGU.
Facilitate conduct of trainings, meetings and consultations in relation to the project.
Coordinate with Plastic Smart Cities (PSC) Project Manager for the integration of project plans / activities.
Undertake any assigned tasks as may be prescribed by its Supervisors.
Supervisory Responsibility : Supervision of Site Coordinator.
Working Relationships :
Internal : Within WWF Philippines, this post reports to Project Manager, and expected to work with other staff in the project sites.
External : Government officials, community leaders and members, stakeholders, other NGOs, media and private sector.
Requirements for the Position :
Educational Qualification : College degree related to environmental science
Work Experience : At least 1-year experience working on solid waste management
Skills and Abilities :
Experience in community engagement
Strong communication and inter-personal skills
Interested and willing to learn the technical aspect in relation to the project i mplementation.
Resident of the Bicol region who can speak the local dialect, Filipino and English languages.
