Key Responsibilities :

The role is responsible for the supervision and execution of theSection’s deliverables and implements formulated strategies for the successful implementationof the section’s work plans and programs

Supervises the execution of the detail design activities, i.e.,design criteria, various Substation Telecommunication Systems (i.

e. FiberOptic, Microwave Radio, Power Line Carrier, Very Small Aperture, Terminal andother Virtual Private Network, etc.), Teleprotection, Monitoring System (i.

e.Closed Circuit Television, Access Control and Alarm Monitoring), and StructuredCabling System.

Supervises the review of design documents, manufacturer’s / contractor’sdrawings submitted for review and approval.

Supervises the preparation of bidding documents packaging forpower substation and transmission projects.

Reviews design methodologies, memoranda, reports, andcorrespondence submitted and formulated by subordinate engineers.

Oversees and evaluates design options to achieve the bestpossible balance between cost and design option, and review the subsequentrecommendation.

Oversees inter-disciplinary design review adhering to designspecification, guidelines and standards to ensure quality, completeness andconsistency.

Directs the detailed planning of specific engineering designwork and collaborates with other technical groups, i.e., Other P&EDepartment, O&M and SO to harmonize the design of all aspects of powersubstation and transmission projects.

Provides technical assistance during the site inspection,pre-bid conference, bid clarifications & amendments to TechnicalProcurement Department for all projects.

Organizes and directs actual inspection of substation sites andcollaborates with accountable Managers of the facilities in assessing technicalproblems on the construction and / or operation and recommends solutions to suchproblems.

Conducts site inspection and witnessing of Factory AcceptanceTest as necessary to ensure design compliance

Provides technical assistance to Engineering ConstructionDepartment for the communication and teleprotection equipment during construction,testing and commissioning stage of various engineering projects.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering
  • Licensed Electronics Engineer
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience in Communication, Teleprotection, Control and Automation System Design
  • Possesses ability to organize, supervise, lead and oversee the execution of the design deliverables under the Section
  • Has expertise in the application of theories, principles and standards on Telecommunications in Power industry
  • Has the ability to formulate and recommend design methodologies for communication and teleprotection system of power Substations and Transmission Line projects
  • Able to recommend technical decisions involving difficult design issues and concerns
  • Possesses good verbal and written communication skills to handle presentation, preparation and review of technical documents and reports and various correspondences
  • Knowledgeable in CAD software (ie, AutoCAD, ZWCad, etc) and various substation telecommunication equipment (ie Fiber Optic, Microwave, Power Line Carrier, wire and wireless, LAN / WAN and other advanced Telecommunication application for various requirements of the Power Industry)
  • Capable to travel for provincial site inspections
  • Capable to work even beyond regular office hours
