The Role

As the Deputy Head of our Health and Benefits team in the Philippines, you will be primarily responsible for developing new business, leading and delivering large, strategic client engagements and serving as strategic advisor to clients in your areas of subject matter expertise.

You’ll also be asked to contribute your thought leadership to the overall development of the Health and Benefits practice.

Core focus areas include :

Development of efficient plan designs and funding arrangements that fit client goals

Maximization of the value of benefits whilst maintaining cost sustainability, working within a benefits optimization framework.

This includes leading executive interviews and running employee benefit surveys and focus groups with employees

Analysis of cost, claims and utilization data to provide meaningful insights on trends, opportunities and risks.

Design and administration of flexible benefit and voluntary benefit programs to meet the diverse needs of our clients’ workforce.

Delivery of health and benefit solutions.

Working with regional experts to deliver innovative benefit solutions.

Project management of complex client projects, guaranteeing delivery on time, within budget and with high quality

Understanding the local health and benefits vendor marketplace, and leverage that knowledge on clients’ behalf

Demonstration of proficient writing, oral presentation skills in client reports, recommendations, and presentations

Analysis about the advantages and disadvantages of the plan funding model (insured, self-insured, re-insurance).

Performance Objectives :


  • Recognize the need for and guide the development of new analytical tools or innovative approaches as the marketplace changes
  • Add to the intellectual capital of the specialty area through new ideas, research, or innovative client work
  • Define the scope of the methodology and proposal preparation of all assigned / developed health & benefits projects, including consulting contracts, flexible benefits, benefits optimization, wellbeing advisory, benefits advisory as well as placement of insurable benefits and execution of consulting projects
  • Consistently abide by the Willis Towers Watson Excellence Model
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to efficiency and effectiveness in pursuit of operational excellence
  • Author papers or articles for publication
  • Present at conferences / seminars
  • Promote and maintain ethical standards, legal and compliance requirements
  • Ensure and promote adherence to local rules and regulatory requirements
  • Undertake assigned regional or global health & benefits related projects
  • Clients

  • Ensure a consistent client experience globally for the local client, monitor resources and oversee governance framework implementation
  • Effectively manage client relationships leading to the generation of new business to successfully meet financial targets
  • Deliver quality advice and solutions to clients
  • Demonstrate deep subject matter expertise in Health and Risk Benefits
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the national and local vendor marketplaces and leverage that knowledge on clients’ behalf
  • Facilitate the relationship between the client and the carriers and advocate on behalf of our clients to ensure quality service
  • Meet with clients to help define their needs and then identify and coordinate appropriate resources within Willis Towers Watson as well as external resources to meet those needs
  • Financial

  • Set and manage agreed operational budgets, including revenue growth target as well as operating margin objectives
  • Ensure a systematic approach to New Business , generate and qualify new business leads within prospective key client organization’s
  • Contribute to the growth of our line of business through achieving new sales goals while also offering technical expertise to other sales teams or line of business, and providing high-quality service to our clients
  • Solicit and close new business within established parameters
  • Work closely with other Lines of Business in the Philippines, as well as Asia and Australasia
  • People

  • Manage clients and health & Benefits team in Philippines
  • Coach and develop the capabilities of team members
  • Proactively participate in the agreed process of setting and measuring project objectives and development plans
  • Ensure collaborative culture, with appropriate attention on inclusion and diversity objectives of the Company
  • The Requirements

  • Proven experience and success leading health and benefits solutions for mid and large sized organizations
  • Ability to diagnose complex client issues and then structure and provide customized solutions and services that achieve client objectives
  • Executive presence including an ability to network, influence and collaborate with a complex range of interpersonal styles within Willis Towers Watson, client organizations and insurance carriers
  • Strong technical abilities with demonstrated capability to provide innovative solutions appropriate to client needs
  • Strong business acumen; ability to learn quickly about the firm’s capabilities, strategic growth plans and profit drivers
  • A clear commitment to the highest standards of professional conduct including the ability to lead by example
  • Proficiency in English required
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Health & Benefits consulting or brokerage role, or from a C&B function in industry.
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively with a strong focus on customer service
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Deep knowledge of the Philippine vendor marketplace
  • Technical proficiency in Philippine employee benefits
  • Broad understanding of compliance issues related to local legislation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
