The Role :

As a full-time "work from home" SolidWorks specialist with a minimum of 2 years of real-world experience, you will be responsible for working directly with product designers to develop market-driven products in a fast-paced collaborative environment.

In this role, you will bring extensive Solidworks knowledge to the team in common manufacturing processes including die casting, injection moulding, steel fabrication, and top-down assembly processes.

You will work with the team to drive the next iteration of products.

Responsibilities & Duties :

  • Plans work activities by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances;
  • Translates information from specialists such as Designers, Engineers or Manufacturers into concept designs and later to actual real object;
  • Interprets ideas through presentations and computer graphics, and must have superb communication skills allowing for the free exchange of opinions with a variety of specialists;
  • Take a new design from initial sketches to 3D model, continuous product iterations, photorealistic rendering to final manufacturing drawings ready for production.
  • Prepare highly detailed product design manufacturing drawings ready for manufacturers quotation
  • Work with manufacturers to ensure product designs are to specification and meet quality control requirements
  • Generation of 3d and 2d assets for use in instruction manual creation
  • Help in developing product quality control and testing documentation
  • End-to-end development and design for manufacturing of new products as well as continuous quality improvement on existing accessories in the ecosystem of the product library.
  • Release manufacturing-ready design files and documentation to the supply chain.
  • Build a strong engineering framework that can scale. Establish standards, processes, and systems while remaining flexible and accurate.
  • Own projects and deliver accurate results on time.
  • Work with global supply partners managing complex projects
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments;
  • Collaborates with Industrial Designers, supervisors and process engineers to enhance processes, procedures and training methods.
  • Assists the development of training materials to improve quality, processes, and lessen cycle time.
  • Essential Skills / Attributes required :

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Methodical, detail orientated and highly organised.
  • Experience in consumer goods manufacturing and product quality inspection
  • Proficient in Modelling and Assemblies, 2D Drawings, Surfacing, and weldments with Solidworks
  • Proficient in exporting DWG and Revit files
  • Hands-on experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, sketches, and specifications
  • Ability to create and develop patterns and components made of sheet metal using Solidworks
  • Ability to translate sheet metal 3d model designs to 2d drawings for manufacturing and production
  • Knowledge and understanding of sheet metal machinery like press brake and laser cutting machines.
  • Knowledge in sheet metal assemblies with the use of welding, riveting, screws, etc.
  • Create and develop 3d model designs made of tubes, occasional machined parts, stamped and moulded parts.
  • Knowledge and understanding of different methods of welding.
  • Ability to identify cost-effective components, assemblies, and methodologies to achieve specific design goals.
  • Experienced in the creation of 3D models with Solidworks.
  • Experience in generating 3D rendered images using Keyshot
  • Experience in product QC inspection and review
  • Experienced with Google Docs, Drive and Sheets.
  • Qualifications / Experience required :

  • Fluency in English is a prerequisite.
  • Graduate of Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design
  • 2+ years of industry experience
  • Drafting : 2 years (Preferred)
  • SolidWorks : 2 years (Preferred)
  • Steel / Fabrication : 2 years (Preferred)
  • Chinese speaking an advantage
  • Experienced working with Western companies (preferred)
  • Experienced working with Chinese manufacturers (preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong portfolio of previous work experience
