Postdoctoral Research in Behavioral Neuroscience
Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine
One postdoctoral scholar position is available immediately in Dr. Zheng-Ming Ding’s lab at Department of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Ding’s research is focused on elucidating neural mechanisms underlying the development of drug addiction using rat models.
An array of behavioral, biochemical, and molecular biological techniques are extensively utilized in the lab, including drug self-administration, microdialysis-HPLC, immunohistochemistry, Western blot, gene manipulation, and optogenetics etc.
On-going projects are focused on investigating 1) behavioral, neurochemical, and molecular mechanisms underlying the role of cotinine, the major metabolite of nicotine, in the development of nicotine reinforcement, and 2) neuroadaptations and neuro-circuits critical to the development of nicotine and alcohol addiction.
We are seeking highly motivated individuals with strong creative and critical thinking and a desire to learn and expand their interests and expertise.
Preferred qualifications include Ph.D. in behavioral neuroscience or related disciplines, excellent knowledge and expertise in behavioral models related to drug addiction and techniques currently used in the lab.
The position is 2-3 years and is contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Interested candidates are required to attach to application the curriculum vitae and a cover letter.
