We have aglobal end to end framework in place of established guidelines and templatesthat enable us to perform analysis &provide consistent value add pro-activeproposals to mitigate future business risk, increase process efficiencies &enhance the overall control environment within our business units.
The main business units supported include FundAccounting, Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, Custody Transitions& Account Services, Hedge Fund Services, & Investor Liaision ManagerGroup.
The ManilaControl Manager is a role that is responsible for oversight of the operationalcontrol structure of the C&IS Business units in Manila as well.
The ControlManager provides proactive leadership and guidance to the control team and thebusiness managers and partners, to strengthen or re design controls, ensurecompliance and mitigate operational risk.
Theposition reports directly to the COO for Manila and India.
Responsiblefor the Control program for all business units in scope ensuring that itevolves with the needs of the business and is delivered effectively
Demonstratesproactive leadership & engagement with business units concerning theirrespective control environment.
Fostersand promotes Northern’s commitment to a strong risk management culture bydeveloping a control mindset within the business units we support.
Overseesactivities & prioritization of work, provides coaching, training and careerdevelopment, and performance assessment for the assigned Control areas
Drivesthe control strategy & standardization across the business units. Creates a high quality, motivated team thatadds measurable value to the business and our clients.
Activelyparticipates in Global Control & relevant business management meetings aswell as providing input into the local Manila Risk Committee
Drivesinitiatives or participates in steering groups to implement controlenhancements, compliance with corporate policy, or risk mitigation
Engagewith senior management around various issues tied to material errors / losses,audit & compliance issues, regulatory matters and control breakdowns.
Workclosely with the Business Units regarding the development of controls andmetrics to make sure proper preventative and detective controls are in place.
Monitorskey metrics to identify operational risk and / or control problems at an earlystage and ensures that immediate measures are taken to maintain quality andefficiency standards.
Drives recommendations to strengthen controlweaknesses
Drivescompliance with corporate policies, advises & communicates on relevantupdates.
Partnerswith various risk management and control groups throughout the organization.
Engagementin business unit related audits, compliance reviews and regulatoryexaminations. Holds business unitaccountable for resolving all open issues in a timely manner and avoidingrepeat findings.
Evidencing closure of items in order to meet milestones
Skills / Experience
10-15 years related business experience in operational areas is required
FundAdministration experience and or a CPA qualification is a strong advantage
Backgroundin risk management, consulting, compliance monitoring, or auditing is desirable
Self-directed,driven, manager with experience in operational aspects of the fund servicesbusiness or the investment management world
Possessan understanding of associated products and services as well as operationalfunctions, regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Demonstrateability to work with cross-functional lines of business and prioritizeaccordingly.
Abilityto work with teams in other geographical locations
Knowledgeof risk management techniques and proven ability to assess business processesfor efficiency & control design.
Strongcommunication, negotiation and analytical skills
Effectiveproject management skills
Demonstratedability to work with senior level partners across an organization
Alevel of salesmanship is necessary to sell the value added benefit of thecontrol discipline and drive improvements.
