Job Description

The SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications.

This is a hands-on position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and sustainment of the SQL Server environment for a global company.

Key responsibilities include ensuring SQL operational readiness (security, health and performance), executing data loads, and performing daily operational tasks in support of multiple teams.

Job Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in support in MS SQL Server environments.
  • Strong experience in Database Administration in SQL Server (2008 R2, 2012, 2016)
  • Able to perform SQL server installation and configurations
  • Strong experience in Monitoring tools like IDERA, Redgate etc. is mandatory
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
  • Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, DMVs and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I / O, disk space and other resource contention.
  • Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands.
  • Strong Knowledge of Clustering, Always-ON availability group.
  • Strong knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, statistics work and how they can be created and managed effectively
  • Experience in patching SQL Servers.
  • SQL Development - ability to review and troubleshoot SQL queries and assist developers (stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
  • Experience in implementing operational automation
  • Fair understanding on DevOps will be an added advantage
  • Good knowledge on storage systems like NAS, SAN is desirable
  • Good knowledge on Windows systems - Windows server 2008, Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2016 is desirable.
