Key Accountabilities

  • Partner on an ongoing basis with business units & internal subject matter experts to identify and evaluate all risks associated with new vendors, existing vendors, changes of service scope with existing vendors;
  • Develop and maintain statistics and dashboards on the intake process
  • Interact with the business owners, Subject Matter Experts and senior management, in view of completing the Inherent Risk Questionnaires in a timely manner to determine the various risks around Manulife’s vendors;
  • Actively influence, coach, provide awareness to the business owners, SMEs and Senior Management in understanding the respective risks associated to vendors;
  • Ensure inherent risk questionnaires are completed on a timely manner and required actions are taken.
  • Own the Intake process at the Vendor Governance level, by actioning intakes, risk stratifying requests, managing customer requests, replying as the face of the Vendor Governance Managers
  • Action all procurement requests to risk stratify any new, existing, amendment, contracts
  • Update and maintain the Archer Vendor profiles and contract profiles, as it pertains to the business requests provided through the Intake Process
  • Ensure completion and compliance for all activities related to outsourcing regulatory governance.
  • Reassess the risks associated with highest risk vendors prior to the renewal of contract agreements.
  • Escalate vendor risk issues identified during the risk stratification that have not been adequately addressed.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in interpreting requirements and improving awareness of risks
  • Engage Information Risk Management and other risk Subject Matter Experts such as Legal, Compliance, Operational Risk Management, Investigative Services and Tax, as applicable, for assessment and review of risks during the Inherent Risk Questionnaire
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in the vendor risk management field.

  • Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in vendor management or third-party risk, Operational or Enterprise Risk, Internal Audit or Corporate Procurement or Contract management
  • 5+ years in a professional environment
  • Graduate of 4-year degree
  • Knowledge of risk and control practices, procedures and principles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills and service-oriented attitude
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving capability;
  • Excellent multitasking skills
  • Strong PC skills and proficiency with MS Excel, Word, Access and Sharepoint
  • Attentive to details and quality, well-organized, innovative and result driven;
  • Self-starter with high level of initiative;
  • Exercises good judgement;
  • Operates in a professional and ethical manner with customers and vendors;
  • Ability to work in the mid-shift or night shift
