The team, led by the GM Downstream and New Energies Data Privacy, works with the Chief Privacy Office legal team and Data Privacy focal points across the Downstream businesses and functions to ensure compliance with the Group’s Data Privacy manual.
Our role is to institutionalise Data Privacy best practice in a fit-for-purpose manner throughout the organisation and the support functions, ensuring appropriate engagement, tools and training is in place such that full value can be extracted from sales and marketing activities, with risks appropriately assessed and mitigated.
Developing innovative solutions to innovative problems, in full cooperation with legal, business and functional experts, is an essential part of doing business better through excellent data privacy practice.
We are looking for a talented Data Privacy Manager with strong data privacy knowledge, ideally experience in the IT / IRM function, to sit within the DS / NE Data Privacy Team.
The position will suit someone of high energy who is conscientious and meticulous in their approach to work and committed both to protecting Shell’s reputation as well as enabling business growth through highly effective customer relationships.
Accountabilities include :
Ensuring compliance with the Shell Data Privacy Manual and other appropriate frameworks and external regulations.
Process improvement - Working to implement a data privacy risk control framework and gap closure plan
Improved ways of working - Work collaboratively with the business and functions to drive continuous improvement in data privacy processes
Best Practice Application and Development
Communications & Stakeholder Management, particularly communicating priorities
Incident Management supporting as cover for the management of Downstream (and New Energies) incidents as and when required
Supporting the Incident Manager in driving Incident Problem Management remedial work to mitigate identified risks.
Dimensions : Cross Downstream, changing regulatory environment, significant change management agenda.
Skills & Requirements :
A strong and deep working knowledge of data privacy fundamentals and the external regulatory environment is preferred but not essential.
There would be an expectation that the successful candidate would work to become certified by IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals)e.g. CIPM or CIPP.
Practical experience of Shell IT Control Frameworks and Shell Legal and Regulatory Process required including experience in Collective, DRP and SNOW.
Experience implementing policies, procedures, templates, and toolkits to be used by a variety of business stakeholders at a global level
Proven ability to manage risk exposure.
Extensive knowledge of IT terminology, processes, systems, and applications, as well as knowledge of database concepts, data modelling, and database applications
Proven stakeholder and relationship skills, with demonstrated ability to engage / influence, are very important.
Sound judgment and initiative, including strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, flexibility to adapt to changing environments and needs, and the ability to translate legal advice and guidance into actionable solutions.
Experience in the B2B sector ideal and would be a strong advantage.
Good communication skills e.g.Can communicate effectively in English; knowledge of other languages would be an advantageThe ability to communicate at all levels in the organisationThe ability to provide clear, concise information under time pressureThe ability to choose the appropriate communication medium (email, meeting, phone call) to get the right result
