Primary Job Function :

The GL Manager provides functional, technical and process leadership that delivers general accounting (including Fixed Assets, Intercompany Accounting, Expense Accounting and Payroll Accounting), financial close process, fixed asset maintenance, and account analysis / reconciliation processes.

  • This role’s primary responsibility will be overseeing the day-to-day general accounting functions, including fixed assets, expense and payroll accounting;
  • intercompany financial transaction activities. This role works closely with the Global Record to Report (R2R) Senior Manager and Global Shared Service (GSS) Senior Director to define, measure, implement, and improve necessary process changes across the GL process.

    Specific Responsibilities :

  • Manage the monthly close process for assigned functional area interfacing with the global GL team regarding sub-ledger reconciliations and other corrections
  • Lead overall General Ledger and Fixed Assets / Intercompany / Expense and Payroll Accounting resources for the delivery of quality services in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Business Unit (BU) requirements
  • Oversee assigned functional area’s (i.e., Shared Services General Ledger and Fixed Assets / Intercompany / Expense and Payroll Accounting) functions;
  • work with Leads to manage and monitor end-to-end processes

  • Review complex financial transactions, investigate and resolve issues, and perform analysis that is used in the compilation of statutory and regulatory financial reports required to be filed in the various jurisdictions in which the company operates
  • Assist Controllership Group in the review of other financial and management reports, including regulatory and statutory filings, for international regulators and / or historical or prospective financial reports as requested by senior management
  • Technical point-person within the GL for GAAP application. Overall responsible in drafting technical / process memos or guidelines that impact the GL service delivery.
  • Regularly review and test adequacy of internal controls, policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with internal Corporate policies and GAAP
  • People management, does performance assessments, coaching sessions and work plan discussions with direct reports; provides guidance on prioritization and work load management, serves as escalation for issues and responsible for driving timely resolution and creation of next steps to avoid future reoccurrence.
  • Translate GSS vision, values and business goals into GL team and individual goals
  • Deliver functional metrics and report on trends that reflect performance against SLAs; work with Leads to ensure that they are implemented.
  • Overall responsible for the attainment of GL SLA's, KPIs / Operational Performance.

  • Support the RTR Senior Manager in initiating or implementing projects that improves efficiency and effectiveness of the GL Team.
  • Within his / her group, must be able to look for opportunities that can reduce costs and streamline any processes (or system changes).

  • Oversee escalations from internal customers and response to customer inquiries, driving timely and effective issue and error resolution
  • Deliver a high level of Customer Service through a positive customer focused attitude.
