The primary function of an Order Taker is to assume the following job responsibilities : Perform the following task within the Room Service Department according to standards of procedure.

Provides quality service to ensure positive results reflected in LQA, AAA, Forbes standard results and guest comment cards.

Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

Individual must possess the following characteristics and requirements to perform the functions of the position. Professional appearance, confident demeanor, positive attitude, engaging personality, humility, integrity and abide by the principles, goals and policies in Hotel Bel-

Air Pledge. Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including weekends & holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALITY CONTROL :

Highest standard of food product, sanitation, storage, and handling procedures

Technical culinary food quality, nutritional and portion control standards.

Food product and service; guest relations standards

OPERATIONS :

  • Highest standard of food product, sanitation, storage, and handling procedures
  • Technical culinary food quality, nutritional and portion control standards
  • Food product and service; guest relations standards
  • VIP guest names and room numbers
  • Follow daily employee shift side work
  • Thorough knowledge of F&B Menus
  • Ingredient and descriptions of daily specials
  • Thorough Knowledge of Forbes Standards
  • Answer telephone; take guest orders and requests, answer guest questions, direct calls to other areas as necessary and take messages
  • Complete knowledge of our Micros and Opera Systems
  • Place order in computer system, generate guest check
  • Thoroughly communicate guest orders in detail to Server
  • Assist Managers with any additional assignments
  • Thorough conversational knowledge of Hotel history and statistics
  • Thorough Knowledge of hotel phone etiquette and Forbes Standards
  • Assist to coordinate Amenity deliveries and logging and posting of all daily amenities
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

    Directly supervised and reports to Room Service Managers and Assistant Managers

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATIONAL AND REQUIRED SKILLS

    Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College (or) technical school.

    Two-year technical room service experience in a world class luxury hotel / resort, or equivalent combination of education and experience

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Professional phone vocabulary, Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

    Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, Ability to clearly and effectively speak with guests when taking orders and before groups of employees of organization

    REASONING ABILITY

    Absolute quality detailed service ethic.

    Well-rounded management, operational troubleshooting and problem solving techniques

    Strong interpersonal staff and guest relations

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
