The Environment Officer is primarily responsible for supporting environment safeguards compliance of ADB projects. The incumbent will report to the designated International Staff and senior National Staff.
Conduct due diligence and prepare environmental safeguards document preparation.
Review environmental management plans and / or environmental framework plans for ADB financed projects to help ensure quality and compliance.
Proactively monitor ADB projects with respect to environmental impacts and compliance and remedial actions as appropriate, and support the finalization of environment monitoring reports in accordance with the Safeguards Policy Statement and other relevant ADB requirements.
Work closely with project officers, government agencies, development partners and other stakeholders on environmental safeguards matters as they relate to ADB financed projects
Consult with project beneficiaries, affected persons, and with relevant NGOs and CSOs on environment safeguard issues in ADB financed projects.
Keep abreast of, and assess the consequences of, developments in environment policies, regulations and standards.
Provide capacity building support and training on ADB's environment safeguard policies and implementation approaches.
Relevant Experience & Requirements
Master's degree in environment sciences or related field. Alternatively, university degree in related fields combined with additional relevant professional experience can be considered.
At least 8 years of experience working in or with an international organization and working with multiple stakeholders.
Possesses technical skills in various aspects of environmental policy, environmental management, climate change, biodiversity issues, and safeguard compliance.
Able to liaise and work effectively with government officials within own work location.
Able to update and advice ADB management and international staff on policy and environmental issues in the context of Indonesia.
Able to guide Administrative Staff (AS) to facilitate work planning, delivery and quality review.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is required.
Experience in international organizations will be an advantage.

The selected candidate is appointed for an initial term of 3 years.
