Position Responsibilities

The Record-to-Report Manager provides leadership and direction to the team performing general accounting tasks in the Global Shared Services center including monthly close activities, account reconciliations, and journal entries.

This role’s primary responsibility will be overseeing the managers over the day-to-day general accounting functions, including intercompany, accruals, fixed assets and royalties.

In addition, this role will oversee global Tax preparation and reporting activities performed in the GSS, including US Income, NA Property and global Sales & Use / GST / VAT taxes.

This role works closely with the GSS leader and Global GL Accounting Lead to define, measure, implement, and improve necessary process changes across the R2R process.

This role will also work with the Corporate Tax group in the definition of operational strategies to minimize tax obligations, and is responsible for ensuring the accurate analysis and reporting of data / information for tax reporting purposes.

Record-to-Report

  • Manage the monthly close process for assigned functional areas interfacing with the global GL team regarding sub-ledger reconciliations and other corrections
  • Lead overall General Ledger resources for the delivery of quality services in accordance with SLAs and BU requirements
  • Supervise work assignments and evaluate staff performance on these tasks; Ensure that staff have necessary training and education to perform tasks
  • Review and approve complex financial transactions, investigate and resolve issues, and perform analysis that is used in the compilation of statutory and regulatory financial reports required to be filed in the various jurisdictions in which the company operates
  • Utilize knowledge of accounting and corporate practices while working closely with the Corporate Technical Accounting team to verify that the G / L is correct and resolve any issues
  • Regularly review and test adequacy of internal controls, policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with internal Corporate policies and GAAP
  • Oversee escalations from internal customers and response to customer inquiries, driving timely and effective issue and error resolution
  • Translate GSS vision, values and business goals into team and individual goals
  • Recommend, evaluate, and test new technology or processes; initiate and implement improvements as needed
  • Develop and deliver functional metrics and report on trends that reflect performance against SLAs; work with Leads to ensure that they are implemented
  • Identify and recommend necessary changes in financial policies and procedures to optimize performance
  • Global Tax

  • Partner with Roper and the business to understand business requirements and proactively provide solutions compliant with fiscal and tax requirements.
  • Manage the day-to-day Tax activities within the Global Shared Services organization, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of services and timely completion and submission of tax returns and associated payments.
  • Lead and oversee all tax preparation, filing, and reporting activities

  • Ensure that tax submissions are completed according to accuracy and timing requirements in alignment with service level agreements and statutory requirements
  • Lead the collection, analysis, and evaluation of required data to support tax submissions
  • Lead the review and verification of the accuracy of journal entries needed to record tax liabilities and the accounting classifications assigned to various records.
  • Ensure that system outputs are compared with daily inputs to verify data accuracy and subsequently lead the resolution of any discrepancies
  • Lead the identification of tax-related improvement opportunities and drive implementation of specific initiatives to improve performance
  • Lead other Tax Filing and Reporting, and Tax Accounting activities as required
  • Qualifications

  • 10 years or more of accounting experience in a global company
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in the general accounting function or in a similar environment
  • BA or BS in Accounting
  • CPA required, MBA preferred
  • tax reporting and accounting practices

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting systems and applications and tax management software applications
  • Experience leading teams in a Shared Services environment required
  • Experience in process improvement activities
  • Public accounting experience is a plus
  • Strong computer skills : proficiency in Excel
  • Experience using SharePoint is a plus
