Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Specialist to join the Risk Management Analytics (RMA) Client Service Team under our Client Coverage organization in Manila.

The MSCI Global Client Service team is composed of experienced financial professionals that provide first tier support for our institutional, dominantly financial, clients around the world.

Team members are responsible for responding to a wide variety of methodology, usage, interpretational, and technical questions on our line of products and services.

Client contact is primarily via telephone and email, but occasional travel may be required for on-site presentations or trainings.

The team members work closely with account managers and consultants to develop and maintain client relationships.

Currently, Client Service teams are present in the following locations : San Francisco, New York, Monterrey, Toronto, London, Budapest, Mumbai, Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo and Manila.

Scope of Responsibility

The successful candidate will be part of the APAC Client Service team catering to the inquiries raised by MSCI global clients in the field of finance and investment raised during APAC hours.

Said candidate will provide support to clients in their use of MSCI’s risk management analytics application tool, RiskManager.

His responsibilities include but not limited to :

  • Learn and understand RiskManager’s user account maintenance and functionalities
  • Learn and understand the various market and financial risk management concepts used in RiskManager
  • Analyze, understand and competently address clients’ queries, concerns and requests using combined knowledge of Risk Manager, financial quantitative tools, market and financial risk methodologies and other risk management concepts
  • Assist clients in navigating, researching and understanding the latest research materials on risk management, product features, risk models, etc.

  • Monitor market and product developments to be up-to-date and relevant in providing support to clients
  • Recommend methodology and product enhancements based on client interaction and feedback to Consultants and appropriate internal teams as contribution to the firm’s product development and enhancement efforts
  • The successful candidate will also be responsible in (a) coordinating with Global Client Service RM team for any inquiries outside APAC hours, (b) ensuring that complex queries are routed to the appropriate global teams within specified SLA whilst keeping clients updated on the status of the query in a timely fashion, and (c) collaborating with other Client Service teams globally to help address ad hoc requests from global Sales teams.

    Specific Knowledge / Skills

  • A self-starter and highly motivated, ability to work individually and within a team
  • Deep understanding of international financial institutions and global financial markets
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial topics, such as : modern portfolio theory, market portfolio construction, optimization, CAPM, multi-
  • factor risk models, financial derivatives’ pricing model, market risk, liquidity risk, credit risk, and Value-At-Risk (VAR)

  • Strong analytic, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to articulate complicated concepts or methodologies verbally and in writing to senior management and clients
  • Must be technology savvy
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects under tight, short-term deadlines
  • Ability to work efficiently with diverse cultures on a global team and knowing when to involve appropriate colleagues in projects regardless of functional, geographic, and business lines
  • Ability to develop value-added contributions to both internal and external clients
  • Track record of excelling in an environment of ambiguity by quickly adapting behavior and work methods to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities
  • Track record of challenging self and others to anticipate future trends and creatively capitalize on opportunities
  • Desired Experience

  • 3-5 years’ relevant working experience
  • Past experience in client facing servicing capacity (via email and phone) is a plus
  • Past experience in serving external financial institutional clients is a plus
  • Past experience in systems implementation / support and some background or experience on programming and database management are plus
  • Desired Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in finance, economics, statistics, mathematics, or other quantitative fields is required.
  • Master’s Degree in Financial Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Business Administration or equivalent is highly desired.
  • Either completed or studying a Finance related professional qualification e.g. CFA, FRM is highly desired.
