Job Purpose

The position is responsible for assisting the Director of Communications in implementing

the various marketing communications mediums needed in a promotional campaign,

and handling the administrative requirements of the department.

  • Primary Responsibilities

    1st primary responsibilities Assists the DOC in implementing promotional campaign

  • Writes press releases, copy for promotional materials
  • Send out press releases
  • Handles media birthday and milestone lists and sending of gifts
  • Entertains print and online media
  • Coordination of various components of public relations events, launches and media visits (i.e. itineraries, invitations, attendance lists and gifts)
  • Assists in hotel photoshoots
  • 2nd primary responsibilities Handles Administrative Work

  • General administrative duties such as meeting planning, minutes, shipping and mail-outs, travel arrangements, media and partner reservations and filing.
  • Respond to communications telephone and email inquiries.
  • Provide support to the Marketing Communications team including responding to requests, administering payments and tracking charitable commitments.
  • Maintain an effective filing system of Marketing Communications division.
  • Assist in Marketing Communications weekly / monthly / quarterly / annual reports
  • Other Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge and Experience

  • 2 years post-secondary education, background in Journalism, Communications or Media preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with creative flair.
  • Self-directed, flexible and capable of handling multiple projects effectively
  • Computer literacy required including ability to understand and interpret financial data.
