Cohu STG is ramping up our ATE Applications Engineering team in Asia to provide system level engineering and advanced applications support for our customers with manufacturing operations in Asia.

We are actively recruiting now and into the middle of 2019 for more than 60 applications engineers at these levels : Application Engineers, Sr.

Application Engineers, Principal Application Engineers and Application Team Leaders. Here are the locations where we have openings :

Position Summary :

Senior Application Engineers work on application development projects for customers. They develop, debug and integrate application programs according to customer test specifications.

They support installation and ramp-up for production at customer sites, including on-site troubleshooting. They meet with customers and conduct technical training, support customers on- and offsite, provide technical support for system sales, and work on special projects.

As part of the worldwide Application Team, Senior Application Engineers work to meet goals and objectives. An Applications Team Leader role is a stepping stone to a management position.

As such, it is a working role meaning that an Applications Team Leader is expected to maintain a hands-on function similar to that of an Applications Engineer while starting to take on management of the people assigned to the team.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities :

  • Maintain a hands-on function similar to that of an Applications Engineer while starting to take on management of the people assigned to the team.
  • Ensure the performance of the Applications Engineers assigned to the team is being maintained by assisting, training and giving guidance to the individuals.
  • Review and deliver team member’s performance assessments. Actively push for improvement plans in case of low performance.
  • Prioritize tasks among the team.
  • Take an active role in the development and coaching of the Applications Team assigned, identifies training needs for the team.
  • Identify areas of improvement Identifies and enhancing overall performance quality
  • Provide active and positive communication to maintain a strong sense of team work
  • Escalate management to the Applications Management within the STG group.
  • Ensures that all customer inquiries are responded to on time and professionally.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership for the team as part of application development projects.
  • Coordinate on-site and offsite support activities for customers (including ramp-up support for production at customer site, onsite trouble shooting, technology and methodical support).
  • Co-operate with the Applications Team worldwide to meet goals, objectives and functions as defined above.
  • Other Functions :

  • Participate frequently in customer meetings and foster all levels of communication with customers.
  • Focus on existing business processes and their appropriate usage as well on continued improvement of existing processes
  • Report SPR’s (system performance reports) upon detecting any issues on the tester operating systems.
  • Write application notes and papers for internal use as well propose papers for exhibitions and public events.
  • Preform the following duties in conjunction with management as a stepping stone to the management path :

    Qualifications :

  • Education : University degree in Engineering or similar education
  • Experience : 5+ years’ experience in the ATE and / or semiconductor industry. Knowledge in at least one of the listed disciplines :
  • RF technology
  • Digital
  • Mixed Signal Test + DSP
  • Power Automotive
  • DFT (Design for Testability)
  • Specific Knowledge : Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Personal Qualifications : Programming skills, good understanding of electronics and electrical engineering, creative, communicative, flexible, organized, willing to learn, willingness to travel, collaborate with
