  • This role is responsible for the successful operation, maintenance and safety of all Sun Life buildings and premises, fixed assets, supplies and warehousing arrangements.
  • It is likewise responsible for achieving established goals, balancing the need to maintain the aesthetics, safety and sustainability of Sun Life buildings and premises through sound asset and expense management and effective leadership of a team of professionals and engineers.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) with audit experience, an advantage
  • Experience in construction and property management an advantage

  • Bachelor Degree in Business
  • At least 10 years of work experience in Finance or Audit of which of 3 years as Head or similar position
  • Track record on internal controls and financial forecasting and management

  • Plans and directs the operations of all Sun Life buildings and premises; provides clean, safe, attractive and efficient environment.
  • Plans, develops and implements the operating budget(s) and monitors costs and expenditures. This includes the department's annual budget with respect to planned capital improvements, fixed assets (including IT equipment) and supplies acquisition, maintenance efforts, contracts, insurance and utilities for Sun Life facilities and premises.
  • Ensures that controls are properly designed and operating effectively.
  • Directs the comprehensive maintenance plan for all fixed assets.
  • Ensures the proper instruction and training of staff in methods and procedures, safety precautions, proper use of equipment and fixed assets preventive maintenance.
  • Reviews and evaluates plans and specifications for new construction.

  • Oversees inspection of sites for adherence to established plans, specifications and department objectives, and ensures corrective actions are initiated to maintain construction, safety and governance standards.
  • Reviews and evaluates all department records for completeness and accuracy, and for the purpose of monitoring costs / expenditures for establishing / maintaining operating budgets;
  • approves purchase orders and contract payments.

  • Timely submission of monthly reports to Financial Planning and Analysis and Financial Accounting and Reporting.
  • Ensures timely and accurate payment of utilities, rent, supplies and others.
  • Manages outsourced vendors, logistics, records and warehousing.
  • Prepares periodic and special reports pertaining to staff, supplies and fixed assets including monthly monitoring of KPIs and execution of action plans to address identified gaps.
