Manulife’s Finance Operations is seeking for an individual will drive the market intelligence and product analytics support for Manulife Wealth and Asset Management Asia (WAM).

The role will also be responsible on supervising, training and developing research analyst as well as provide industry and competitor research and analyses to assist in the development of its new strategies and product lines.

  • We are looking for someone with :

  • Experience in managing a team.
  • Skill in analytics and the insights realized from processing raw information and data. He / She will possess strong research, analytical modeling, and financial forecasting / valuation skills
  • At least 5 years experience working in a financial services firm or 3 years experience in the research, consulting or business development areas of a financial services firm
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Communications or related fields
  • Strong skills in data mining to be able to translate voluminous data into a meaningful, accurate and useful state.
  • Passion for research and possesses excellent writing and presentation skills to independently accomplish research tasks
  • Superior problem-solving, analytical and quantitative skills
  • Ability to synthesize divergent perspectives and offer intellectual leadership in building broad frameworks to solve business problems
  • Solid interpersonal skills to interact and establish relationships with the Business Unit
  • Knowledge on data gathering using the internet and other third-party data vendors such as Bloomberg, Strategic Insight and Lipper
  • Understanding of the insurance and asset management industries from its product cycle from the development of the strategy, construction and testing, distribution and its commercialization.
  • Understanding of investment vehicles such as bonds, stocks, mutual funds, ETFs and alternative assets.
  • Nice to Haves :

  • Holder of MBA or CFA an advantage
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Communications or related fields
  • On the job you will :

  • Lead the production of updating the industry, country and competitor analysis research reports of the team as well as ad-hoc reports as requested by management (ex.
  • M&A analysis, competitor due diligence, macro trends, new product research reports, and regulation change implications)

  • Work with Wealth and Asset Management Strategy and Business Development team to conceptualize standardized market intelligence reporting for industry, markets, competitor, and product analysis
  • Manage workload of research analysts and ensures quality standards on both qualitative and quantitative elements of research are being met
  • Build knowledge and expertise on wealth and asset management industry and collaborates with Strategy team in sharing industry, competitor, strategy and regulatory information and developments to establish quick and up-to-date market intelligence across different countries in Asia
  • Take the lead role in resolving critical issues raised during operations and proactively manage and monitor control efficacy to ensure potential risk is minimized
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders and liaise with data vendors to effectively provide necessary industry and competitor benchmarking
  • Manage Train, coach, mentor research analysts to help them improve their research and analytical skills continuously. Reviews work of junior research analysts.
