Role Summary

The Team Lead provides direction and guidance to a group of Research Specialists and Research Associates responsible in delivering customized research outputs that provide relevant and current information and insight to support strategic and tactical decision making across business functions and industries / sectors.

Responsibilities and Duties :

People Management (25%)

  • Provides coaching and feedback (formal and informal) on projects, critical incidents, and work ethics of team members
  • Creates performance improvement plans for Associates who are below target
  • Coordinates the training and mentoring process involved in the continuous improvement of research delivery
  • Assists the Operations Manager in succession planning by identifying top performers and prepares them for the next role
  • Encourages team members to participate in Company activities
  • Operations Management (40%)

  • Ensures adequate staffing coverage, manages allocation of resources on research projects across members of the team, and prioritizes research projects according to deadline / urgency in line with the monthly targets set by the client
  • Monitors research projects assigned to team members to ensure on-time delivery and quality of output
  • Serves as main point of contact for all issues / support requests and ensures that these are looked into prior to escalation to other stakeholders
  • Communicates with clients to ensure that there are no issues regarding research projects and that timelines are met
  • Ensures all issues that arise are communicated to internal stakeholders and are addressed immediately
  • Handles and conducts investigations on client and team escalations (i.e. creation of series of events, gathering of additional details from Associates)
  • Performs root cause analysis (RCA) and assists in identifying corrective measures
  • Reviews and signs off completed research projects prior to client submission
  • Suggests and implements strategies to improve the research service that the team provides to client
  • Ensures that all documentation of the Team is complete and updated
  • Conducts regular huddles to update the Team and discuss delivery matters
  • Attends regular operations meeting and client calls
  • Liaises with IT / HR local teams for team members set up
  • Production (25%)

  • Independently works on and consistently manages research deliverables
  • Conduct secondary research based on client’s specifications with a high degree of accuracy, consistency and in a timely manner
  • Conducts analysis of research data thru written commentaries and uses client’s pre-defined methodologies
  • Adheres to client’s quality standards as defined in the current SLAs / KPIs
  • Participates in various working committees and / or projects
  • Ensures high quality standards.
  • Conducts initial investigation regarding errors / issues encountered prior to escalation to the Transition Program Manager and Operations Manager
  • Ensures high quality standards
  • Admin & Reporting (10%)

  • Creates project documentation for complex / new projects
  • Approves timekeeping applications of team members
  • Ensures that Information Security requirements and policies are adhered to by the Team
  • Prepares monthly performance and progress reports of team members for Operations Director and Transition Program Manager
  • Ad Hoc

  • Checks recruitment assessments and conducts technical interviews for new Research Associates and Research Specialists
  • Leads special projects as assigned
  • Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Excellent business writing skills and verbal communication skills in English
  • With proven leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate team members
  • Strong analytical ability and able to apply logic to solve problems
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Education and Experience :

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in any field, preferably Economics, Business, or Commerce
  • With at least 5 years’ relevant research experience and / or a strong background in research analysis and writing
  • With at least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity
