The Ops Accounting Sr Manager accomplishes results through the management of professional team(s) and department(s). Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area.

Contributes to standards around which others will operate. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the entire function.

Requires basic commercial awareness. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers.

Has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness and delivery of end results of an area. May have responsibility for planning, budgeting and policy formulation within area of expertise.

Involved in short-term planning resource planning. Full management responsibility of a team, which may include management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary and terminations and may include budget approval.

Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for reviewing and processing expense reports to ensure compliance with the Citigroup Expense Management policy.
  • Ensure processing within procedural guidelines and timelines standards. May also review and process invoices and purchase orders to ensure compliance with policy and ensure processing occurs within procedural guidelines and timeliness standards.

    May also include fraud prevention and problem resolution responsibilities.

  • Manages one or more accounting teams / department.
  • Manages general accounting functions and the preparation of reports and statistics for a function of the business.
  • Applies in-depth understanding of how Ops Accounting area collectively integrates with other departments, as well as, coordinating and contributing to the overall objectives of the function.
  • Provides reporting that is reflective of earnings, revenue, profits, cash balances and other financial results.
  • Increased scope of accountability relative to manager in terms of size of group managed.
  • Contributes to discussion on business planning, budgeting, and execution. Responsibility for departmental planning, managing departmental budget and policy formulation within Ops Accounting area and operating within established budget.
  • Management responsibilities include : maintaining appropriate staffing / hiring requirements to meet operational needs, training and development needs for assigned team, evaluating exempt subordinates' performance, and making recommendations for pay increases, promotions, terminations, etc.
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and / or other team members.
  • Ability to manage teams.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
  • Qualifications :

  • 6-10 years of experience in an accounting role with some experience in management
  • Education :

  • Bachelors degree, potentially Masters degree
  • Key responsibilities / accountabilities :

  • Ensuring the entire process of reviewing and passing of journal entries is compliant in accordance with Citi's Expense Policy while ensuring that Service Level Agreements are achieved to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Work across multiple countries and CSCs on seamless end to end delivery of payroll accounting operations
  • Manage and report on the performance of the Payroll accounting function utilizing key performance indicators (KPIs), including timeliness, accuracy.
  • Manages, motivates, and drives performance for all employees handling payroll accounting operations.
  • Catalyst for Change and drive continuous improvement and support reengineering initiatives
  • Identify process improvement opportunities, drive productivity, automations and continuous improvement, process standardization and best practices implementation
  • Conduct process checks to ensure consistent execution of processes across Asia and review process documentations and provide technical support in accordance with standard.
  • Support regional implementation of global initiatives and represent Asia to share best practices and recommendation on Process design in consultation with Global Product Leads.
  • Provide process guidance to Migrations / transitions team and provide input to testing plans and identify potential risks for future projects, systems and vendor migrations and location strategies.
  • Stay informed of new technology, process changes and enhancements to Workday / Global payroll impacting payroll accounting.
  • Develop Process Change Request solution and support change management for processes for the accounts.
  • Identify skills gaps, and initiate training to address the issues and provide support in the design of payroll accounting function and other related-process specific training materials.
  • Assist with Operational strengthening initiatives, rectifications and stabilization efforts in-country or in the CSCs.
  • Escalates issues to Regional Total Rewards Head and provides assistance and support in root-cause analysis of incidents.
  • Provide support in carrying out preventive and corrective actions for resolution of issues using the global incident reporting process while ensuring all stakeholders are kept regularly informed of progress to closure.

  • Support Transitions, Projects and Audits, as needed and various regional productivity and Asia initiatives. Simplify and involve team members in re-engineering of processes to streamline, automate and / or outsource processes to increase efficiency, reduce complexity and eliminate unnecessary cost.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within HRSS to achieve productivity goals.

  • Responsible for working in partnership with Payroll / Benefit vendors on any payroll accounting related matters
  • Responsible for providing regional support to payroll accounting teams and risk & control teams in ensuring appropriate controls are in place and all processes are maintained in an audit ready state at all times, to meet compliance and corporate governance standards.
  • Accountable for setting performance expectations with team members, regularly reinforcing goals and providing coaching and feedback on their performance in one on ones.
  • Identify various functional and training reqts., mentor and develop others (formal and informal training)
  • Provides appropriate recognition and rewards to team members throughout the year.
  • Multi-skill team members to eliminate single person dependencies to ensure there is sufficient back-up support for critical functions provided by the team.
  • Performs other related functions that may be assigned from time to time, or as deemed necessary.

  • Graduate of Finance, Accounting or any Business related courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects and process improvements, and establish good working relationships with customers and Regional counterparts.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond promptly, thoughtfully and effectively to changing work environments, changing priorities, and new situations.
  • Knows the importance of constant feedback to supervisor and customers

  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll processes and systems across diff. countries.

  • Effective time management, documentation and organizational skills. Experience on systems, process, country migrations.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, under pressure with constant deadlines
